Is it normal for CPU to be running up t0 20% on 4 tracks with 5 fx???

I would say you have a problem. I have a P3-700 with 384 mb ram. I run 5 live synth pro's, about 8-9 different Waves Eq's, a couple L1-maximizers and a couple compressors with 8 or 9 audio tracks all at the same time and my cpu usage is between 50-60% At the rate you are going, your computer...

    scrolling in piano view

I am not sure about that .. but I don't think so. I edit in Piano Roll all the time. When the song is playing, it wants to be focused on what is being played. I always edit when the song is not playing.

    Is this a bug?

I work with a lot of midi and step recording in Sonar. Sometimes I will end up with a bunch of separate clips on one track as I create music in the Piano Roll View. So I will go to the main track view and bounce each individual tracks to clips just to clean things up.. no big deal right? do it...

catchy metal song here, please review

I hereby dub the... IRON CARCASS!! haha.. Good job man. The guitars are pretty raw. The only thing that rubs me wrong are the drum machine cymbals. I can hear those suckers from a mile away. (I used to use them all the time). The snare and kick sound great though. The toms sing nicely too...

    Finally something new!

Hey johnboy, I think the vocals are the strongest part of your song. They are recorded very nicely. About the drums: They sound small to me. A little too far back in the mix maybe. They almost sound mono too, panned straight up the middle. Good job. You have a nice song.

Gappin when editing...make it stop...if possible

crossstudio, Same thing with me man. I just wasn't sure if my computer was weak or if other people experienced the same thing. I'm running P3-702 with 384MB ram.

Gappin when editing...make it stop...if possible

You guys, Listen to what he is saying. "play a song u've recorded and use the scissor tool or highlight the track and delete while its playing and the ENTIRE track will stop for a few seconds..." He is editing the clips while the music is playing.

    Anyone enjoy playing slide guitar?

Speaking of good slide guitar. I think Ian from Big Wreck is an excellent slide player. Check them out sometime.. Especially the solo from Overemphasizing off their first album.

They are great guitars... but I didn't see anymore on the Mars site as of an hour ago.

Gappin when editing...make it stop...if possible

Teach, Why would you want to cut the audio out? Wouldn't you rather use the envelope tool so it basically fades the track volume to zero? This way you aren't deleting anything that you might regret.

    Guitar EQ

Anybody here using an EQ processor in their guitar rig? If so, what brands are good and how many bands? I'm looking to fine tune my guitar tone.

What are your favorite reference CD's and WHY??

Sorry Zip.. I haven't been following this thread. Should have PM'd me if you wanted me to respond that bad. I can't tell you that there is one specific song by tool that DT emulates. All I can tell you is get Ænima and listen to it a few times.. especially the song 46&2. Check out Undertow too...

    Active Monitors Poll

Re: HR624 Wow.. I haven't had a chance to hear the 624's yet but I had a sneaking suspicion that they were going to be very high quality just like the 824's. I bet if you combined the 624's with the new Mackie active sub it would be totally awesome.

    Drum programming help

I posted this somewhere else but I'll put it here too.. I've been programming drums with computers for 11-12 years now. I started out using the sounds off a sound blaster pro card.. (yuk). Then I stepped up to an Alesys sr-16(dm4) programming it with a midi program called Trax. I picked up...

    Requested: Some general advice.

I'll give you my set up. It isn't exactly a "pro" setup but it gets the job done and you can't beat the price. First you need to cover your computer equipment. Max out your memory at 512MB or higher if you can. I would say you should at least have a Pentium III 500mhz cpu. You also need a...
