Howdy,
The last cable question I posted got me some real jammin' info. Let's see about this one...
What cable types (i.e. speaker, instrument, microphone, telephone) should be used:
Recording setup-
from tape deck to mixer (or digital recorder)
CD ROM/RW to mixer (again, or digital recorder)...
Hey,
LIVE SOUND QUESTION ALERT!!!!!!
Anybody out there got some real world info on the mackie active monitors and full range speakers. I'm looking at mains for a church (all kinds of music, full rhythm section plus trumpet, lead singer, 5 backup). I heard them at a show and they sound great...
Howdy,
Anybody using a "stock model" laptop / notebook for recording stuff and if so, which one?
I need a laptop for some other stuff and so of course want to be able to use it for music as well. I would be passing stuff from my DPS16 to take advantage of some mastering programs and the like...
Are you mixing down to computer?
Naw, my 'puter has an "integrated chip" for a sound card and I would lose going from the dps16 to it. I bounce to 14 channels, then those 14 to the last 2 and then any other stuff to the final 2 track. BTW, have you got the newest upgrade with the normalising...
I thought those had a 12" speaker...
You're right, I stand corrected..."a moderately sized speaker in a little bitty cabinet"
Thanks for all the input!

Hello.
I just wanted to know what is the best way to clean my mouse (and pad) and I figured the guys and gals on this forum would know best.
Thanks

Mr. Shailat
If you use monitors, you simply use a phase cancelation on the
recording to eliminate most of the leakage from the monitors after it is
tracked.
OK, I know that phase cancellation has to do with the inversion of...
Hello.
I might (probably) am missing something obvious, but how can I record a choir that sings to soundtrack and allow them to monitor the soundtrack with out picking it up in the recording?
THanks

Howdy.
For the folks using standalone units:
What are you guys doing to make precise eq adjustments. I've read alot on the site about a boost around "*" and a cut right at "#". However, the only eq I have at the moment is what is integrated in my unit (DPS16). So I'm thinking about an external...
Thanks for the input!
So I would assume, then, that since the BOSS GT3 does have amp simulating characteristics (y'all know better than me of what quality), and since the little Peavey doesn't have much of a cabinet or speaker to have much resonance (little bitty sucker, ain't it?) and the mic...
Howdy.
I am not a guitarist by profession or nature. The guitar setup we use for church AND when I record is a Boss GT 3 and a little Peavey "Backstage". Right Now we are going guitar to GT3 to Peavey to (via line out) direct box to snake, console, etcetera.
What are the pros and cons of using...
hey Skippy or anyone else that's out there:
I know that in an ideal world all signals are balanced via direct boxes...but I didn't inherit an ideal world!!
I've got some (inherited) cables to repair that go from 1/4" instrument (unbalanced) to XLR (used with a snake). The one I looked at seems...
THANKS
Man, I was 'bout ready to scream...I've got a choir concert Sunday (choir's debut), just got two brand spankin' new SM81's and I've been repairing cable like crazy 'cause the sound guy that got fired left about 6 cables with shorts in 'em. Really they were just soldering jobs that came...
Hello.
I just made two cables about 30 feet long. The cable is what was on the roll at the store (I live in Mexico, BTW) . The cable says that it is 2 X 24. The shielding is copper (colored, at least). THe connectors are Switchcraft that I took off some other old cables. The soldering points...
Hey.
Has anyone tried the normalizing and /or multi band compression stuff on the new upgrade yet?
Sounds like it should help stuff a lot, along with the .wav export/inport stuff that is on it, too.

OK, first live sound question coming up
Truth is,
I figure a lot of folk here do live sound or have done live sound, but since some folk are SO "sensitive" even about whether someone WRITES IN ALL CAPS or not, I wanted to through out a "feeler", first.
Anyway, the church where I'm at just...
Plextor drive
Hey.
I got a "newer" (at the time of purchase last september, anyway) Plextor 12/4/32 external drive which did not need an adapter because it was the same species of SCSI. The only problem I have had is that I can't playback directly from the drive in the CDR pages. Even Akai...
