    old RCA desks and Elvis

It's easy. Get one of the greatist singers ever, a bunch of pro musicians and backing singers, a couple of rca ribbons, a tube mixer, half inch mono tape deck. Record in a good sounding room at resonable volume and let the singers and musicians balance themselves. Work up the arrangments on the...

    Post Your Analog Recordings Here...

So you mixed down to an analog 2 track then? And if I understand you right, you used the fatso how? By running the mix off the two track through the fatso and into an ad converter? and the other tunes you linked were also done on the 388? Thanks

sounds great. the 388 is a nice fit for that style of music. hard to cover beatle tunes because they come with so much baggage, but you managed to personalize it. what was your mixing process?

How would you use a half-inch four track machine?

Great question, actually. They were very popular in the 60's, but seem kinda of odd now. You could think of it as a high-fi version of a cassete 4 track. You could probably get away with an internal Bounce or 2 with the wider tape. It would sound cool on any instrument or group of...

Doing things the "wrong way" for fun / profit

Yeah my sig and rep points disappeared. Not that I care too much. Maybe connected to the changes in the bbs software? I don't really get the rep points anyhow. I remember my points went from zero to an absurdly large number quickly, then just stayed the same for years. Of course, it could be...

    Mint 388 on eBay...

It's always about the heads on these things IMO. If it's in really good shape and doesn't need any work, and it's a local pickup, then that's a pretty ok price, Again IMO. He didn't say where he was. Loved the sample songs.
