I wasn't really knocking peavey or having a knee jerk reaction. There are some professional studios near where I live that use Behringer gear. I'm just saying, given the choice between a yamaha and a peavey mixer for the same price, I'd go with the yamaha.

Yamaha makes some nice stuff and it's generally recommended around here for its proformance as a budget audio mixer. Essentially they're going to do the exact same thing, but I don't trust Peavey. I would take a Yamaha over a Peavey anyday.

The computer isn't the thing that is going to give you the "clear and professional" sound. You may need some mics, cables, stands, preamps, rack effects, decent monitors, recording software, audio interface and maybe a mixer to create a studio in your house.
