Tears And Mascara - the first post-Jongleurs Jongleurs song...

Love the background vocals. How'd you record that? Drums are pretty much not there but I guess you know that. If you're having trouble with a good space, mics, or whatever just use samples from software or an electronic brain if you can afford it. I don't understand why so many people insist...

This one's sort of an anthem.

Hey no worries! I appreciate the comments. This place should be more than just a pat on the back. ...though sometimes I think people make negative comments just to sound smart:spank:

This one's sort of an anthem.

My intention was for the start to be obviously rough and incoherent, like a band sitting down and settling into a warmup. Guess I didn't carry that off too well. Think the vocals get too loud? I thought I caught all the bass drop outs where I was making quick edits during tracking. I'm trying...

    New mix, Old song.

Hmm. well you can't argue with Glyn Johns. I've found that you get more bass not quite inside the kick, but right where the front head would be- I also like to remove the front head or mic around the hole. Are you eqing anything? I'm just not hearing much bass or high end.

Haven't been around in a while. Love for someone to listen to my music. Hard to tell about your own stuff, ya know? Feel free to offer positive comments or helpful criticism on all aspects from writing, performance, mixing etc. Thanks! BTW, bicycle love song is the name of the band, not the...

    Only You

Nice guitar. Bass seems kinda low. I think it's ok to up the bass when there's no real drum kit. Also helps to record the guitar without a HPF if you're not gonna use drums too. Have to have a good room though. Like the synth too. I'm guessing this is just a quick pass on the percussion? You...

    harvesters and drive-bys - a dobro "cover"

Ha! love it. Great voice. Haven't been around much lately so don't know what your op is all about. Love to hear a better mix.

    Been awhile

Love the organ sound, percussion, bass. Awesome mix. Very dynamic and open. Pretty voice but maybe not too much expression. Guitar sounds pretty cheesy to me, but of course that's taste. If you're just mixing, not sure what you can do about any of this. The snare's pretty lifeless. I'd...

    New mix, Old song.

Cool song and great playing. is that your band? how are you micing the kick? all beater and no boom. mixed too loud too. The drummings so tight I'd guess you're using midi drums except for the fact that they sound so dry and all the toms and snare sound the same where as samples sound over the...

Digital Piano a LONG way off from realism

Ah, good point. I read that in the earlier posts, but it didn't register until now.

Digital Piano a LONG way off from realism

Sounds like you're comparing apples and oranges. Saying samples don't sound real is almost like saying recordings don't sound real. It's not a valid comparison. It would be more fair to compare samples to a RECORDED live piano. Do you have a steinway/whatever? Do you have DPA/scheops/whatever...

Where does all the drive space go?

Hah! It was the paging file, AKA virtual memory. By default xp set this equal to my ram-2GB-though it typically defaults to 1.5Xram. I guess it knew it was on a proportionately too small partition. Easy enough to reset in advanced settings. BTW, apparently it's a bad idea to totally eliminate...

Where does all the drive space go?

I considered hidden files, but I figured their drive usage would still show up as counted in the size shown when mousing over the folder icon. Either way, I just want to make sure something's not screwed-up, so how much should an install use? BTW, is there still a boot boundary limitaion on...

Qestions using delta 1010lt & Mackie

I have the 1010 with breakout box so I'm not sure exactly how the LT version works. If you have direct outs, it's probably best to run them to the inputs of your 1010. If not, you can push your cables half-way into the inserts(until you feel one click instead of two) to get that signal. Now...

Where does all the drive space go?

I just did a new install of xp and on a 7.3 GB partition, I only have 2.45 GB of free space! When I open the contents of the partition, the biggest of three folders is "windows" and it's only 1.66 GB. "Documents and Settings" and "Program Files" each are under 300 MB. I should have around 5 GB...

I need to know the BEST motherboard

One of the best places to look for problems is often on bbs's dedicated to specific software i.e. cubase.net or sonicmatter.com for Logic. seems some people on the cubase.net board are having trouble with nforce4.

I need to know the BEST motherboard

ASUS A8V deluxe gigabyte GA-k8ns ultra 939 I wouldn't be so cavalier about your mobo choice. As I understand it, stability problems are often caused by motherboards- either through poor quality or incompatability issues. You also need a socket 939 board for that CPU. You need to make sure...
