    Deftones white pony

I don't have any answer but I've been wondering this myself for a long time. I've always loved their big full drum sound.

    First Chill Song Ever

Really fantastic song. Definite chill. I do agree that the vocals should come up a bit. There are some good harmonies in there but since they're a little low volume-wise, it forces me to listen harder than I normally would while chilling... :)

Help Yourself - Love song needs critique, please

I like the song and the mix. A little confusing at times, but that's just how the song is. What mic, pre and post (reverb, compression etc.) did you use for the vocals? I like the sound.

57's good for what I need?

Yes my board has phantom power... So I'm better off just getting one 57 for the snare or guitar cab? I already have a 58 and have taken the windscreen off (supposedly makes it more like a 57) yet haven't been too pleased with the results... I had no idea condensers were preferred for over...

57's good for what I need?

My band plans to record a demo soon so I'm in search of some decently affordable but good mics for micing my drummer and my guitar cabinet. We plan to DI the bass and keyboard and dub in the main vocals later using an AT 2020 mic. My current gear setup includes: Fostex VF160ex recording unit...

    TRS to TS 1/4" How?

I wasn't aware if they made any TRS to TS adapters, or even cables? I can't seem to find any online. Would plugging a regular TS cable halfway (first click) into the preamp outs work?

    TRS to TS 1/4" How?

Ok, simple question from a newbie. Preamp has balanced TRS 1/4" outputs. Recorder has unbalanced TS 1/4" inputs. What kind of cable do I use? TS or TRS? Or do I need some kind of adapter?

    SM58's for vocals only?

He means make sure the 2 overheads are the same distance from the snare and kick. Thanks for the info fellas.

    SM58's for vocals only?

The condenser is a cheap Audio Technica AT2020. Think it will be better as a single overhead?

    SM58's for vocals only?

Cool, thanks. For the scratch vocals we'll just use a cheap mic, and go back later and dub in with the condenser or a 58. As far as the drums - Will two overheads be enough? If we have enough mics I was wanting to do 4 mics on the drums . 2 overheads, 1 kick and 1 snare. Will the 58's be...

    SM58's for vocals only?

My band is going to be recording some demos soon on a digital 8 track multitracker. We own a 58 but also have access to borrow 4 or so other 58's. We also have a couple other cheaper mics and one condenser. Can we achieve decent results using the 58's to mic things other than vocals? For...
