Will Sending 2 Different Signals to Stereo Compressor Interfere W/ Each Other?

The RNC's are stereo all the time. The answer to your question is "yes", the signals will affect each other. If you set it to a long release they will affect each other less. Or less noticeably let's say.

Website to mix/master songs for you...

My understanding is that this is a "mixing" site. i.e. the client will have multiple tracks of individual instruments and vocals that need mixing. There are already a couple or a thousand "mastering" sites. And I think that some of those people do some business. It's an art and a business...

Website to mix/master songs for you...

But so what? It's pay to play, right? There's a price of admission, so that weeds out a bunch right there. The feedback system will ensure that after a while the better engineers will start getting more in demand, and the wannabe engineers will fall by the wayside. Plus, people will be able to...

Website to mix/master songs for you...

Absolutely, that's the way to go about it. A survey may be able to help you fine tune your approach to your potential customers, but it won't give you an answer as to whether you should go ahead or not. You should never give up on a business idea because a survey said you should. The only way...

    Disaster Recovery!

There seems to be plenty of them on eBay. Either you have an enemy you don't know about, or you need to stop eating your flapjacks while working!

Website to mix/master songs for you...

I agree, a survey is not that useful. The only way to know is to set it up and see what happens. Also, the paid subscription model is a loser too. That just doesn't work for internet businesses for the most part. A small percentage of the deal is the only way to go, plus perhaps a small set fee...

    Tracks out of sync!

What about the old tracks, are they also in sync now?

Website to mix/master songs for you...

I think it is a good idea actually. I don't know how it will turn out in a business sense, or if happy customers will end up with great mixes, but it's an interesting and good idea. Putting mixers directly in touch with people who need their songs mixed. I don't see how that is a bad thing. As...

    Tracks out of sync!

That's a lot of different steps that are essentially out of sync from the beginning, even though they play back together in the original session. I suspect that the audio files do not in fact start at the same point in time, even though they may look that way in the original session. If I may...

    Tracks out of sync!

But if it is a different sample rate, wouldn't all the tracks be out of sync by the same amount? Whch means they would be in sync, just at a different pitch now because of the different sample rate. I get the reasoning behind transferring the tracks one at a time, that makes sense. That's...

    Tracks out of sync!

I don't understand why you want to transfer the tracks individually. The only way to go is to open the entire file in compatible software on the other computer. Ideally, you have the same DAW running on both machines, or at the very least, different versions of the same software.

    Tracks out of sync!

Why can't you just burn a CD of the laptop Cool Edit session and just open that in your other computer? It sounds like you are taking the tracks over individually. From your post it sounds like you are using Cool Edit on both machines.

    USB Audio Interface

If you want to use PT LE you need to buy either a Digidesign interface or an M-Audio interface that works with PT LE. Neither of the interfaces mentioned by the previous poster will work with ProTools LE. A Digidesign interface will work with both PT LE and other DAW software. However...

    Hardware EQ for Mastering/Mixdown

I don't know where you would have read that graphic eq's are better for mixdown/mastering. Your first thought about a five band parametric is good. That category would also include in my opinion, three or four band eq's with high and low cut. In addition to the Orban 642B mentioned above, you...

    rehearsal ear protection

Check this place out, the most awesome earplug store I've found: http://earplugstore.stores.yahoo.net/ A couple years ago I bought a pair of maybe 10-12 different styles of earplugs, then wore them to various gigs. This was to pick out my favorites, those that felt the best and sounded okay...

    Behringer Mic Pre-Amp

jlmedia, the guy they sent was a salesman. He sold you more gear that you didn't need. Take the new stuff back. You solved the problem right? So you don't need a gate, I thought we figured that out. A gate is just not necessary for your recording studio applications if your gear is set up...

The basic plugins i will need?

Correct, you need the FXpansion wrapper. Even then, it doesn't wrap all VST plugins, just most of them in my experience. Perhaps there are other wrappers as well, but the FXpansion is what I use.

PC + Interface versus Digital recorder

I'll take a DAW on a computer any day.The ability to use a large monitor and mouse, plus all the software plugins that are available make a DAW so much more powerful. Editing is much tougher on those little hardware recorders.

    Recording with a G4 powerbook (1ghz)

I had a friend give me a couple of laptops a while back as well. He'd upgrade to the new generation and hand me his old one, which was usually maxed out with all the accessories. I used those two laptops for years before I finally took the plunge and bought one of my own. He really helped me out...

    sampled horns

Yeah, I didn't intend the list as order of importance. I wouldn't say that good sounds are more important than any of the rest, as you pointed out, but I wouldn't say good sounds are less important either. In my view they are all equally important. If you've gone to all the trouble to actually...
