    To mod, or not mod?

I think any mod that makes the guitar play or sound better is worth doing. Unless you have some vintage 65 Strat you don't want to swap parts on, anything else should be game.

    Bill Lawrence pickups and controversy

Thank you for informing me.. I was still clueless until I got to the end of the story and saw this: (Disclaimer: A resemblance to any frog, alive or dead, *may be* merely a coincidence.) Now I fully understand!!!

Well, if you want one made from wood I can help you out. If you want an overpriced plastic one, check Jeannie Pickguards or Pickguardian.

so what else can i do ?

I have always found Tone Pro's bridges to make a marked difference in tone and sustain. Plus it's nice not to have your bridge fall off during string changes.

    Guitar Scales for Idiots??

Thanks, but it doesn't help me at all. I am really stupid with this for some reason. WWHWWWH - does this mean 1st fret top string, then 3rd fret, then 4th, then 6th then 8th and so on??

    Guitar Scales for Idiots??

The idiot in this case is me.. I have played guitar for years and am fairly adept with chords, but when it comes to leads I am lost. I can play some by ear, but I really have no freakin idea what I am doing. I have bought books, DVD's, online lessons and I still can't get my head around scales...

    Guitars...cases or on the wall?

I made a guitar cabinet from an empty wardrobe cabinet. On the inside I have hangers for 3 guitars and room for an amp. This keeps everything protected and dust free, but within reach for quick access. When I had them in cases I found I did not play them as often, out of sight out of mind.

    Gibson LP Tunematic Placement

Sounds like a sloppy setup. The saddles can go either way to get the correct intonation, but the screws should be facing the other way. Makes you wonder about the quality of the overall setup.

    "Relic" mania cracks me up.

Never understood the relic thing?? Who wants a guitar that looks like it was dragged behind a truck. The SRV clone, while it looks cool is extremely battered. It looks like it was left out in the elements for decades...

    Electric guitar advice

Agreed I have had every flavor of Strat there is and I am telling you my Squier 51 blows them all away. I added some Graphtec saddles and string trees, but other than that it is stock. When I bought it I was sure I would need to swap PUP's but I was pleasantly suprised. I can't say all...

    Electric guitar advice

Tele or Strat Why choose, when you can have both. I bought one of these a few weeks back, not expecting much. I was really suprised at how good this guitar is. I never thought I would say that about a Squier, but these guitars are true freaks...
