LOL. I thought it was going to have a double bass part in it. Shoulda known better. Anyway, it sounds like you have a mix buss comp going, and when the kick hits the comp, its causing it to compress - crazy, I know - but yeah, you need to adjust the level of the kick, or the level of the comp.

The AB drums sound WAY better to me. Especially in the cymbals. The first sample has some serious weirdness going on in the cymbals, and a complete absence of "space".

Sounds like bad mic technique combined with over-compression to me. If the vocal is breathy WHILE singing, not just breaths between phrases.

It really depends on the track, but I generally scoop a bit around 300-400 and boost a bit around 1k. Almost always run an 1176 on 8:1 or 12:1 with a pretty fair amount of GR to get some growl. But that's my taste. If it's not sitting right, I've found that a little of "Da Tube" in Cubase...

Awesome! Thank you so much for listening. I had the vocal a bit wetter, but it started to sound to separate from the mix, and started to lose the "live" feel. It was recorded straight of the FOH board with a couple MOTU's. (it was my buddies rig). We are totally pleased with how it came...

My two cents - Find a drummer! :) The drums are really taking away from the song IMHO. They have a real herky-jerky feel to them, and are often out of time with the song. If that's not possible, I'd try editing the drums to a grid maybe? This song really needs a live drummer though...

The video was done with ten cameras, and the audio was direct off the FOH board. Not a big fan of the singer from below shot either, but pretty happy overall. The guy that did the video was shooting the band after us, and offered to trade video if our audio guy would record the band after us...

Thanks for the feedback guys! As far as the vocals, yeah, it's a constant battle with the singer whenever we record. He actually sounds better here than when we try and do things properly. I may try and pitch correct the vox, but there is a lot of bleed in the vocal mic, so I'm not sure...
