Gah! Need help deciding on a cross-platform live mixer and recording board!

Hahahaha my bad, I had no idea that the Midas XL8 retailed at $300,000  I just briefly heard about the XL8... I really had no idea what kind of system it actually was :p Yea, so count the XL8 out haha.

Gah! Need help deciding on a cross-platform live mixer and recording board!

Don't worry about the future of the band :p I was more or less just interested in what would be the best choice for a mixer around the $1000-2000 mark. Yeah I'm really digging the StudioLive, but that mixer has been around for several years now so there has to be some more up-to-date mixer...

Gah! Need help deciding on a cross-platform live mixer and recording board!

Ok so, here's the deal. I joined a band and were all chipping in to get a mixer/recording unit for handling instrument and vocal levels, recording guitars, bass, piano, vox, drums blah blah blah etc... Added effects such as built in compression, EQ and maybe some reverb/delay would be a nice...

    Can you mix with headphones?

Yes and no. Sometimes I'm forced to mix with headphones due to noise constraints but I'll save the mixed headphone versions as a separate file from the original file so that I can listen to both versions the morning after with fresh ears. Before finishing a mix though I'll listen to it through...

    Poll About Cracked Software

you generally don't need to buy software with freeware like Ardour, LePou plug-ins, Digitalfishphones, Voxengo, KVR Audio... Audacity is decent, but I'd seriously recommend testing out Reaper. Great freeware is out there, you just have to search for it really.

    Cubase 6 and virtual instruments

Haven't used Pro Tools but from my experience Cubase has the MIDI and audio down while Protools is still lacking a bit when it comes to MIDI support, however it handles audio like a pro ^^ I personally use Cubase and once you get past the learning curve everything about using MIDI / VST...

How to setup my equipments with cubase 5 ? [SCREENSHOTS]

Setting up hardware for the first time can be a pain in the a** :D I have an Axiom 61 and for me all I had to do was install the drivers from the M-Audio website: m-audio.com > support > drivers and updates > select your product and OS (the CD with the drivers that came with the keyboard was...

What do you think of cubase 6.

Pretty solid I'd say. Was running a cracked retail version of Cubase 5 until I saved up enough money to buy a legal copy. Luckily enough for me by the time I had the money C6 had come out :D Just got it and have been running it for 5 hours straight. 1 BSOD but that was because I was doing...

    Aligning vocals in Cubase

Hey Abi, Sounds like your having a problem with the snap tool. Cubase automatically assigns keyboard hotkey J to enable/disable snapping. Or you can just click on the button in the top center part of your cubase window that looks like this >|< When the box surrounding it is blue that means...

Cubase 6 eLicenser Dongle Questions - Worth putting up with?

That's what I was thinking, you don't have to worry about going through lengthy registration processesand worrying about the max limit of installs (I tend to wipe my PC's once every 6 months). Oh well, I'll just invest in a USB hub and that's that.

Cubase 6 eLicenser Dongle Questions - Worth putting up with?

Hey thanks, The big thing for me is; can you remove the dongle after Cubase has been loaded? Or do you have to keep it plugged in whenever you use the program?

Cubase 6 eLicenser Dongle Questions - Worth putting up with?

Hi, I'm wondering if you can remove the eLicenser dongle after Cubase is loaded, or will it lock up until the dongle is put back in? I've been using Cubase LE4 forever now, I've been very happy with the layout of the software and am looking into getting Cubase 6. Just the method Steinberg...

Need Help Deciding Between 2 Mixes!

Thanks a lot guys for the input. My set up is Ez Drummer Drum Kit From Hell with the kick and snare replaced with Steven Slate Drum Samples with added external effects. I finally just hit Ctrl+Shift+Delete and got a rid of the first mix. Problem solved haha, I only have 1 mix to work with xD

Need Help Deciding Between 2 Mixes!

Alright I'm back with my Blood and Thunder cover. I have 2 mixes that sound nearly identical but am finding myself going crazy over which one to pick. Both have their downsides, the first one has too boomy of a bass tone IMO and in the second one the levels are good except the hi-hat and...

Mastodon Blood and Thunder Cover, Need An Audience! :)

Hey, thanks there Joey. I know, I was only introduced to them 2 months ago. I was hooked on their work, this song especially :) Really! You think? I'm using Ez Drummer - the Drum Kit from Hell expansion pack with the humanize function enabled. I also went through my MIDI notes on the Cubase...

Death Grind stuff. Is this brutal sounding?

Great track, love the riffs especially that riff in your second MP3 link at 0:25, can't get it out of my head haha. Guitar playing is also very tight. Drums sound a bit too "programmed." I'm presuming you're using a drum program or samples, but if possible try changing the velocity of each...
