    akai dps16 time stretch

I use a Korg d16, but let me jump in. For example, last week I spent hours tracking a guitarist who, two days later, wanted the song to be at a faster tempo but same key. The only way to do this is to use the compress function. On the d16 I just set the appropriate locate points and execute...

    Click Tracks

Wondering how many people record while listening to click tracks. As a drummer, this drives me crazy, but i usually monitor a high hat click while recording. Also I was wondering what instruments are recorded first. I used to do the drums first, to the click, while trying to remember the song...

Recording on "8 track" - cartidge, that is

Bvaleria: Thanks for the advice. And, yes, I am a freak! The main reason I have 8 track is because my absolutely beautiful, fully restored 1966 mercury parklane breezeway (back windshield rolls down) sedan has an underdash 8 track, and I wanted to keep the car original. Besides, you should...

Recording on "8 track" - cartidge, that is

I have been recording some local talent in my basement on my Korg D16 lately. My goal is to put out a "demo cd" showing off my efforts. Also, I want to put out the demo on 8 track - yeah you heard me - 8 track. As in 30 years ago. I have about 50 blank cartidges in original factory wrap that...

    8 track recorders

D16 I am one of the few users who post D16 stuff here (at least in my short time as a member). The D16 is something to consider, especially now that they are one of the cheapest 16 track machine available. The new V2 software fixed most of the problems of the earlier machines. As for the 8...

Korg D16 V2 and the S/P DIF Connection

Johnnytorch: When you backup the data it saves and preserves the separate track data. You then can restore the data at a later date and mess with the tracks again. This is different when burning an audio cdr which combines the track into a stereo mix. Two completely separate processes. What...

How do I put out a CD?

Thanks for the replies. The artwork for the cd is covered since one of the groups submitting songs has a mac guy that has done several cd inserts. He says he will do it for free. I guess I could spend some time and put out a few on my own. However, I seem to have a problem getting cdr to...

How do I put out a CD?

I am in uncharted waters. Several guys/gals that I play music with have been recording in my basement studio on my Korg d16. We all agree we would like to put a cd together and send it to one of these companies I see in the back of "Electronic Musician". You know, "100 cds packaged and...

Korg D16 V2 and the S/P DIF Connection

Johnnytorch, Yes, it is your old friend and fellow D16 user, Markert again. You will find very few D16 users here, so we might as well stick together. Yes you can burn an audio CDr as well as backing up track data with the external SCSI burner. I order to burn an audio disk, the D16 requires...

    Korg D-16 Should I or Shouldn't I???

johnnytorch, I use a yamaha external SCSI burner. It is an 8X write. I think the model was 8424. I ordered it from dirtcheapdrives.com for I believe less than $300. It works great. It was listed on the Korg website with the other compatible drives. The problem with the website is that...

Basic Realistic Requirements for a Computer

DavidK, A professional violinist. I'm impressed. Makes all the rest of us garage wannabes look like a bunch of mooks. Seriously, thanks for your post. I too have a celeron 566 and I have been hesitant to "go computer" since everything always says Pentium XXX required. What soundcard do...

    Korg D-16 Should I or Shouldn't I???

Stan, I'm an avid D16 user, although I often feel like an absolute minority in that aspect. This machine has been great to me since the software has been updated to the V2 version. It does everything I want (basic track demo recording for local bands) and has some good editing functions. Good...

    Dumping tracks from Korg D16

I record on a Korg D16 stand-alone recorder, but I am interested in getting a good soundcard/breakout/software package to record on. Specifically, I like recording my drums (8 tracks simultaneously) to the Korg since I can put the unit next to me behind my drums and be my own "engineer". I...

    Older Cakewalk Software

I also posted this on the digital recording group, but I wanted to ask Cakewalk users directly. I use a Korg D16 to record, but I recently upgraded my computer and I want to play around just for fun with the old computer (don't want to use the new computer for audio). Anybody know if there is...

    Older Software

I record with a Korg D16 box. But, I recently upgraded my computer and was wondering what to do with the old one. I don't want to use the new computer for recording. However, just for the grins of it, I wanted to know what kind of software I could get to mess around with recording utilizing...

    Radio Shack "Drum Mic"...

OK, I think this dead horse has one more post in her. I have been using this RS drum mic for the last few days to replace a broken sm57 on a 12" tom. I think it sounds just as good as the 57, plus the drum clip works well. Application is for recording CD demos for local bands in my...

    Recording Snare Drum

I was having problems getting a recorded snare sound also. What I did was to use a clear pinstripe head rather than my usual coated or fiberskyns. Crank it on good and it gives a good crack with some added bass sounds. Works for me.

to go digital or not to go digital, that is my question

Muzicman: I used a Yamaha MT50 four-track tape for years. I had problems with bleed over too. Finally I bit the bullet and bought a Korg D16 digital. I suggest you do the same. It has been a great unit for me (note, Version 2.0 software is a must - free upgrade from Korg). Know also that...

    New Nady Studio Mics?

Hey Recording Engineer, Bear with me, but I don't quite get what you are saying. Is it that this MF mic is the same mic as a more expensive mic of another name? If so, are the expensive mics that it looks like good. If so, for what? Thanks.

    Korg D16

Disappointed that I got no feedback on my earlier post about synching two Korg D16's. I'm new to this site, so if I need to post the thread to a different category, please let me know. Meanwhile, just to get a little foot traffic into my thread, I think I'll entitle it "RadioShack 30-3017 mic...
