    Question about a vocal hormonizer

I am looking for a harmonizer. my budget is around 200 bucks. I play bass guitar and sing lead. The pedals I have seen are controlled thru the guitar. I need control, not our guitar player. Ive looked at the Helicon VoiceTone. Any suggestions?

Thoughts on this mix of our original rock tune

I started from scratch will the drums. I did have them to compressed and pretty muffled. I don't have vocals going to the right. I will recheck them. Thanks on the vocals comment. I hate singing. Always have. I'm pretty self conscious when it comes to singing. I just started singing in...

Bass guitar freq that bugs me

Glad to hear I'm not the only one with this freq problem. I have treated my room, and notice a difference in my mixes. I built 6 acoustic panels. I know there is more than just adding some panels. But its all I can do at this time. My mixes have gotten more consistent over time, and on different...

Thoughts on this mix of our original rock tune

Thank you. I will take all the help I can. I recorded the guitars in a approx. 14x25 room, with a 57. I placed acoustic panels around the amp. I'm really gonna dig into everybodys advice on this. Sometimes I think I'm making progress, then bang. Back to the drawing board. lol. I have learned not...

Thoughts on this mix of our original rock tune

Thank you for the feedback. I tracked the bass with a 57 and direct. I want a heavy sound with the bass. But I do not want it overpowering. The drums I will start from scratch. I use reference tracks, but not as often as I should. I will start using them all the time. I will use your...

Bass guitar freq that bugs me

I have a Shecter Omen 5, a Spector, and a Epiphone Reverse Thunderbird 5 string, I use GHS bass boomers. I have listened to other professional mixes, and I hear this freq popping out. I guess its a personal preference.

    Keeping track of tracking tracks

I use Mixcraft 6 Pro Studio. I also record our band, individual tracks at a time. In each channel, kick drum, snare, etc. I can record several takes at a time in each channel, but I do keep a notebook just to write down which take was the best. I play bass, so I am always keying in on the drums...

Bass guitar freq that bugs me

Yeah, I don't have a problem mixing and getting a good sound out of my bass. I was just curious why this freq, that I see nobody really mention, when mixing my bass, bothers me. I cut about 6 db, at about 250. That seems to do it. Is it my ears. Is it because I play bass, and I'm being to...

Bass guitar freq that bugs me

I am the bassplayer in our band. I do all the recording/mixing. When I mix my bass, I have a freq around 250 Hz that really sticks out, and really doesn't sound good. I believe its when I hit the G note. It just seems to stick out above the mix. I have noticed reading about mixing bass, and...

Music Making with a Computer for Dummies

I bought a laptop about 3 years ago to get started. It had only 4 GB ram.I have outgrown it. Now I am looking at a desktop, an i7, with 8 GB ram, and 1TB memory. I cant spend thousands of dollars. I think this will serve me just fine. Thoughts?

Wanting input if guitar is just right, too loud, etc.

OK, I will look into those things. They will have to live with my decisions, just wish they could be objective. Between getting feedback from you guys, and my own thinking, I think the mix will sound good. They will have to live with it.

Wanting input if guitar is just right, too loud, etc.

OK, thanks guys. I will get the vocal on next week and throw it back up. Its just bugs the heck out of me that the other members cant, or wont look at the big picture. They are only concerned with making sure their instrument is heard over everything. Again, thanks.

Wanting input if guitar is just right, too loud, etc.

I am mixing my bands music. I spend lots of time reading, mixing. Tryin to improve everyday. I try to get input from our drummer, and guitar player. Our drummer loves anything I do (no input) from him. Our guitar player doesn't hear the song as a whole, just his parts. I am wanting input about...

    Monitor Upgrade...Rockit8's to 20/20's or NS-10M-T's...???

I bought the Rokit8's as my first set of monitors. I always have to play my mixes on other forms to check my mixes. What a waste of $$. I keep reading that the Yamaha hs8 are the way to go. But I read that about the Rokits 10 months ago. Wish I would have never bought them.
