somethng i wrote last night, sadly no decent title

has hammond organ, bass guitar, drums, and vocals. I was feeling very wistful and sad so this is what came out! i still can't seem to get a handle on balancing instruments tho. mixing has to be the most difficult thing in the world http://psychedelicsound.yolasite.com/resources/PrettyThingsGo.mp3

    wish I was five

got wrestless in the old studio last night so I tracked what has to be one of my favorite songs ever!! I wish more people in my state knew this shit! I'd love to play this in a band. Anyway it's a 60s violin basss through a 1978 Music man head.....a lot of the tracks going through a 1978-ish...

    The SHOW OFF thread

memories are new live just got back doing a gig in my new one man band, I sang lead and drummed simultaneously here. featuring some crazy runs on a 1969 hammond t-224. literally just one mic in the club, up by my head kinda far away from everything...

live in a "one man band"!

interesting commentary for sure. I'd have to say one of the main reasons I go for the drums live is cause my drums don't sound good coming back through speakers the way guitars and basses and backing vocals do. It seems the hammond organ, synth, guitar, bass etc is much happier to go through...

a cover of "I write the songs"

hahah yeah or like in the beginning of the Sopranos, when they have '50s barbershop do-wop playing in the background while Tony Soprano is running over a guy lol........it just adds to the craziness.

    we'll go on as lovers

This was a few months ago. I was tripping very hard on mushrooms, just got home and my then annoying wife (now ex) was actually out of the house for more than 2 fucking hours in a row. So I was able to write some music. I CAN'T write music when she was, or anyone is in the house. They just suck...

    psychedelic sound

a few months ago I was at a friend's house, ate some magic mushrooms and at some point I said to myself I need to leave this horrible place. I walked home, it was a much nicer influence in my "studio," all of a sudden felt drive to "write" some songs and quickly recorded them. I definitely would...

live in a "one man band"!

oh i was only defensive cause anytime I mention this idea of a one man band to a friend or something, they'll shoot it right down like as if I'll never get a gig. by now i've found in a lot of instances that a lot of people are full of it.

also, a pair of 1979 audio technica AT 811s at the overhead drums. The mics are matched and the card is hand written 12/12/1979. piano was a 1971 Yamaha studio over at the UCONN piano lockers

a cover of "I write the songs"

oh yeah well the piano too was sent to its own spring reverb. it's also a 1970 hammond spring. the only thing without its own dedicated reverb channel would be bass. this is a really rough demo you know, i was just having fun! that's why it's not the best all around... but the bass was mic an...

live in a "one man band"!

what do you mean why? why breathe? because I can't find anyone who likes to play the kind of music I like. I've tried putting bands together and I can't find anyone who wants to play what I want. I started playing guitar and piano at the same age as drums, around 4-5 ish so it's not like I'm not...

a cover of "I write the songs"

interesting commentary.....well the piano was recorded the same way the vocals were - audix om2 into 1978 ashley compressor into reaper. It's a very, cheap bad mic I just had lying around

live in a "one man band"!

I drum and sing by just sitting at the drums and singing into the mic

a cover of "I write the songs"

I did a cover of this old barry manilow track called i write the songs from 1975. it took me like four hours to record the piano at a college because the piano line on the song is deceptively hard. vocals are going through a 1978 ashly sc-50, spring reverb from 1970. drums are also sent to its...

live in a "one man band"!

i've been having an extremely rough time putting a band together that wanted to express the kind of music I wanted to, so I came up with a 'one man band' and started playing little gigs. basically i just pre-record all the guitar parts, and play them back through guitar and bass amps as I'm...

I'm a sound aficionado, but can't tell what this SNARE might be! "Jet" McCartney 1973

I'm surprised more aren't finding this sound as unique as I am. perhaps my garage is too live. I'd really love a dry dull room like they had back then, that's how you get the cleanest sound

I'm a sound aficionado, but can't tell what this SNARE might be! "Jet" McCartney 1973

Oh my god I'd love to see that picture. What was the snare made out of though? Wood? or do you mean like an aluminum supra?

I'm a sound aficionado, but can't tell what this SNARE might be! "Jet" McCartney 1973 This song is called Jet by McCartney and I was just wondering, what the hell kind of snare sounds like THAT? I realize everyone gets flamed for this ....."make your OWN sound man" but that's not the point. I'm...
