Maybe, but it's funny that they'd cite me as "new age" when analog is "obsolete." But it's not a matter of opinion. The truth is that having a physical reaction to physical waves is a more natural process. Why do you think that analog summing boxes have become such a huge industry? It's because...
Welcome to the world of analog!!! I do agree that not mucking about with screens, and GUIs, and Plugs is a much more inspiring process. Part of the reason things seem to be "meshing" better is that you are summing real waves in real time and moving oxide on real tape. So you have a physical...
Let me know what you think of her all plugged up!! I used her more for blues, rock, indie stuff, never jazz. So yeah. I hope she's everything you hoped.
YEAH, WHAT HE SAID!!!
lol
Sorry for the short post. I thought this would be good for begining engineers. Being able to hear well is a big help. I know i need work on this stuff, so....yeah. If you have any other useful tools, sites, techniques let us know.
Read about something in anther thread that prompted my search. I found this site.
Good Ear - Online Ear Training Site
I hope it's helpful.
Sorry for the brief post. GOtta run.
My vote would be for a live recording. Take what I am about to say with a grain of salt. I like minimalistic recording scenarios, so it may not be for you.
3-4 Mics for the drums (overheads: maybe Glyn Johns or Recorderman and a kick. You could add a snare too.)
With some seperation sonically...
I did/do play for Project Church. I'll play again when I get my money in order and can buy a new rig. If you want the amp its yours. I've had several hit's but no really takers. Let me know.
Well then the monotron it is!!!! It's cool that this wacky idea I had wasn't so dumb after all. Next year, when the "studio" (to be read "collection of gear in one place") gets started, that'll be on my list of things to buy.
Do I understand that it actually has a wave generator so you could supply a keyboard and it would be a full on synth?
WHat of that monotron? Does it accept midi so you can play it without the ribbon keyboard?
I've kinda got a hard on for that filter factory now!!!! That looks awesome and is just what I was looking for. So, word!!! But I have to wait a few months till money pans out!!!
Thanks man.
I'm interested in buying a synth, but a lot of my reasoning for wanting one is to process outside sources through the filters. Is there a way to buy a set of filters like you'd find in an old synth without the synth? Probably not, and probably dumb, but I thought I'd ask.
Interesting. Yeah, I don't know. I'm just kicking ideas around. I want the strings in stereo, but who knows, maybe mono would sound good too. Here's to options.
I'm daydreaming (like I always do) about recording sessions I want to do. If I were to record the rhythm (drums, bass, guitars, etc) on an 8 track; could I record multiple takes of a string section to a 1/2 track then fly it in with any kind of syncronization?
I want to be able to do multiple...
In what way and why? I mean the CD would last 5 years instead of a pressed disc lasting 10? Or what? Thanks for all the info. MSH you always provide good information that is well researched. I, for one, really do appreciate it.
