Anybody else bought a guitar for what it looks like?

@Sky Blue Lou is mostly correct. G&L made 2 versions: solid body and semi-hollow Thinline. That's what you have. Nice axe!

    New Members: Introduce Yourself Here!

@Slouching Raymond nailed it. You can also use the headphone jack as an output to the DP, though the Line Out is most desirable.

    RWRP middle pickup question

If you're playing at a venue with a lot of neon, fluorescents, and other lousy noise, it makes sense to have an RWRP in the mid. As for playing in your bedroom, or jamming with friends, it makes no difference at all. At the end of the day, the only person it matters to is the player. There...

Thanks, I do like it. I might take it for a better ride tomorrow or so. I didn't give it much of a workout. I'll give it some attention. Kind of a "second date" :P

    NEW Guitar Project

So, this one is finished. Looks really nice to me. It's a very nice player. Noiseless. No hum and no buzz, But I think the 3 SD SSL-1s are just too flat for my taste. So, on to my next adventure :thumbs up: A Strat Player II MIM black body, and a Lindy Frailin Vintage Hot Strat set...

    RWRP middle pickup question

WADDA DOPE! So, I just finished wiring up my new Strat build. As always, before I set the neck, it took the wired body and plugged it into my amp. SOP, right? Check for buzz. Check for hum. Check the wiring. So I'm sitting there, WITH A FREAKING SCREWDRIVER. And then... DOH! My sincere...

    RWRP middle pickup question

Someone please school me on the "screwdriver test". I have never heard of that term and would like to know what it is.

    RWRP middle pickup question

Who is "YOU"? I think you may have overlooked the OP's issue: He has a RWRP pup in the middle. You are right that there should be no issue with a HB and a SC. But the single coil he's having issues with is designed to be out of phase with the single coil bridge or the single coil neck. That's...

    RWRP middle pickup question

Exactly. And that seems to be the conundrum.. Here's my thought, and feel free to school me: A RWRP in the middle "essentially" creates a "humbucker" with the neck OR bridge pickup. Given standard wiring, the bridge and neck pickups are never coupled together. A humbucker is analogous to a...

    RWRP middle pickup question

I've thought about this for too long. IMHO, A stacked humbucker should not be installed with a RWRP. The RWRP is only to be used with single poles. The RWRP, and I understand it, is to reduce HUM with 2 single poles. It might be a better idea to either lose the RWRP or lose the humbucker. I...

    RWRP middle pickup question

Not the way I understand it. Position 4 would be middle/neck. The way I use my switch, What ever pup the switch points to, it the active pup. If it's all the way back towards the bridge, it the bridge only (pos 1). If it's' pointed towards the neck it's the neck only (pos 5) . In the middle...

    NEW Guitar Project

I have no trade secrets. If I did, I would be rich :P It certainly looks like an interesting project. If someone brought that to me, and I'm no luthier by any stretch, I would do the following: 1. I would make a cardboard template of the pickguard. It looks to me that the edges are fairly...

    RWRP middle pickup question

Position 1 is the switch back towards the bridge pup. Position 2 is "forward" one click, and so on until position 5 is all the way forward towards the neck pup. Also from AI: This is the "standard" nomenclature for switch positions. Standard Strat 5-way positions: PositionPickup(s) Active...

    RWRP middle pickup question

I picked this up using ChatGPT/Open AI> I asked the question: what happens when you wire a RWRP pickup in the middle position with a humbucker in the bridge position ChatGPT said: When you wire a RWRP single coil in the middle position with a humbucker in the bridge position, a few different...

    RWRP middle pickup question

That's a fix, not a repair. The problem, is in the wiring.

    RWRP middle pickup question

ALL my Strat builds have a RWRP middle pickup. Go to the Seymour Duncan and look at the wiring diagrams. The RWRP has NOTHING to do with phase if it's wired properly. You should wire it the same way all the other pups are wired. IF you think it's out of phase, make sure the bridge and neck pups...
