help me fix our jamroom/tracking room

This is a 2 part question complete with photos: We practice in a small FROG with vaulted ceilings (see photos) & are going to start tracking drums there. This room is basically symmetrical except for the staircase you can see on the left. All walls are parallell (although 2 are only 4'tall)...

Did I buy the wrong spdif cable?

Thanks for the replies everyone. I am using Vegas with an Audiophile soundcard (M-Audio Delta). The settings you are talking about are found in the Audiophile control panel, not in Vegas. I have Vegas listening to the Audiophile S/PDIF in, but there is no signal coming in. The M-Audio...

    Sampler questions

I need 'Sampler 101'. What do I look for when buying a sampler? Pros & cons of hardware vs software? etc.. We are using Acid 4.0 for sequencing. Are there any that run as VSTi or DXi? Am I even asking the right questions?

Did I buy the wrong spdif cable?

Well, you're right it's not the cables-I now have good signal going from soundcard to m300, but nothing going from m300 to soundcard. There are no settings for digital out on the m300 & no settings for digital in on the audiophile. Master clock is set to internal on the soundcard (this is...

Did I buy the wrong spdif cable?

I went to Radio Shack & asked for 75 ohm video cable. What they gave me was Gold Series shielded AudioVideo cable. I attempt to hook up my tc electronics m300 to my m-audio audiophile & it doesn't work. No signal seems to be getting to the m300 & the audiophile control panel tells me S/PDIF...

I've got to agree- after checking outy the specs on the m300 & doing a search on this bb, I think I'm definitely going for that over the Lexicons.-Thanks & I'll let you know how I like it.

"I think the benefit to playing at the same time would be the chemistry of the guitars fitting together moreso than recording at seperate times, but then you have less control after words. Unless you record in stereo, then I guess you could mess with both guitars in the same track. I think I...

    :::A real Guitar Amp:::

I can't comment on the cyber-fender or the valvetronix, but I have a flextone & a good friend has the deluxe. It's all about what you want in an amp. The Fender tones on my line6 are great, but there's just something about a real tube amp that the digital modeling can't capture. The deluxe to...

    lexicon 100 vs 110

from what I can tell, both are 'true stereo', the 100 is 20 bit & the 110 is 24 bit. Any other difference? What is the 'Lexichip'? It seems this is something the 110 has and the 100 doesn't.

Have a listen... if you dare...

cool- since the guitars are on separate tracks, play around with the eq on the dirty one & bring the levels up on it some. Another good trick is to double the guitar track & pan the two. This can be done either by playing it again or by copying the track & time shifting it just a hair. This...

Have a listen... if you dare...

The guitar almost totally disappears when you hit your distortion patch-were these recorded at the same time-if so equalize the levels between your clean & dirty patch. Even better, just record the clean & add the dirty on a separate track later. What mics did you use for what instruments...

    New entry...in progress

I agree with TripleM about the accent guitar coming down in the mix. I think maybe the guitars might could be panned more to give them a little more separation. I like the doubled vocal an octave lower. What is that synth thing at the beginning? It sounds good, but gets distracting at times...

After all this time, I finally post a new one...

Song kicks ass. Gives me faith in the drum recordings I'm getting ready to do-in a very small room with no acoustic treatment using 603's as oh's. Was this all played live in the same room? How many channels of RNP do you freakin' have anyway?!:D

Great song-kind of like a hair band playing klezmer with the muppets. Like everyone else I couldn't understand what the hell you were saying. Is it all in English?

    all girl band

The Teacups. I recorded a demo for them recently. They have some great songs & were fun to work with. They switched instruments for each song too. Here's one-'Date With A Pizza'. How's my mix? http://www.nowhereradio.com/artists/album.php?aid=2681&alid=-1
