    Audio interface

A lot more information, please. Like pc/mac, operating system, 32 or 64 bit. Are you doing vocals or rap over samples or prerecorded stuff -- karaoke-style? Or are you multitracking guitars, keyboards, etc. Are you starting simple/inexpensive and upgrade/update later? Or do you want to be able...

Getting only part of song to 15/16

Sorry, but unless the OP is using fiber optics, the signal has to pass through a D/A converter to metal wire with its penchant for radio interference through an A/D converter to its destination.

Getting only part of song to 15/16

Hi Ray, Ok, you've basically got two choises: Drag and drop the full-length file into your favorite editor; or record only those parts you want into the same audio editor. The first one takes longer on the download part, but it's easier in that you can immediately access those parts you want...

What do I Need With EZ Drummer

If you are going to go with pcmcia, look on ebay for an E-mu 1616. I've been using mine for 3 years with Sonar (LE first and now HS7), and I love it. I've got mine going into my desktop via a pcmcia card adapter. The PatchMix DSP is a nice chunk of software.

Advice on mixing a song I didn't record...

Ok, now I really feel stupid. Please clue me in. What are OMF files? And how do I find out if my version of Sonar (HS7) is capable of working with them? Thanks

    Updated My Website, Comments?

I like your POV. You make some very good points for someone coming in to think about, before they get serious about their recording project. Didn't spend a lot of time -- I'm at work. Will check it out more in-depth later. Very clean looking.

All of his wav files are in a folder named Cakewalk Projects\project name\audio. Have him drop them on a flash drive, and get any notes (particular start/end time, measure:beat:tick, resolution; or minute:second:frame, etc.) Import them into your DAW (only the ones you will be using; so you are...

    cubase lx4 help

Calling Teysha Blue... Teysha Blue is the knowlegeable one for the R16. Cubase now has an online unlock setup. You must register with Steinberg and they will download and unlock code to your system. It can be used once and on one computer only. If you have to reinstall, you will need a new...

Should I go for it? and if not

Absolutely do it, if you have the financial means. The quality of your recordings will show the difference. I would love to have the room to separate the recording space from the control room. Besides, you can recoup your outlay by recording other acts. Good luck

Importing drum loops from PC onto DP02-CF

importing tracks Check your file naming protocol. Some digital recorders are very specific about how the file is named. My Boss br864 and br900cd allow mono tracks with the extension of .wav (typical lower-case letters), but my Korg must have stereo wave files with the extension of .WAV...

Adding a reverb unit to my setup - help

I'll give this a shot. Have you tried arming a track and recording to it? I have a feed out to my Boss BR864 from my E-mu/Cakewalk setup and back. I cannot take a live signal (plug my guitar in and play it directly out to the external device). It has to be a previously recorded track. While I...

    Starting A New Studio

oops My fault. TeyshaBlue is right. Only 8 ins, but that should be plenty to work with. If your boyfriend posted on here after you did yesterday, he wrote about a micrphone and a preamp. He's going to need an audio interface to connect between the microphone and his computer. They all have some...

    Starting A New Studio

Start Here A budget would be helpful, But I would seriously look at this: http://www.samsontech.com/products/productpage.cfm?prodID=2009 It's portable, meaning he could do his thing anywhere (comes with a wall wart, but can be operated with batteries). It can be used either stand-alone or as a...

    First mixer - computer

Yes. While you cannot record all 16 tracks onto one deck at once, you can daisy chain two (for power, I think) and have a pair of 8 separate tracks. This is a great little device: I just wish Zoom had come out with it a year earlier.
