If anyone wants to practice their mixing, here you go!

Just got notified that Sound on Sound mag will do a "Mix Rescue" on this song, so any one that mixes it should hang on to your mix so you can compare what you did with what they do. Great learning tool! don't forget to post your mixes here as well and share them with us!

Struggling with getting good mixes :(

Not necessarily. There are some pretty darn good flat headphones these days, and will beat mixing in an untreated room with many problems hands down. My room is actually treated pretty well, and I still mix on phones at night, and when I cue up in the monitors the next morning it isn't too far...

Nice work, very balanced! It's got quite a few compression artifacts from the low bitrate mp3, so you may want to export it a higher bitrate if you can so folks can get a more accurate picture of your work. I know I'd love to hear it at 160 or 192. Also something squirrely happened to the lead...

Struggling with getting good mixes :(

Another thing that might help is focusing on ONE SONG ONLY until you get it right. Go buy a 50 pack of cd-r's and start mixing. Burn a cd, take it to your car, and make a few notes on things you don't like (try to start with one instrument if you can such as drums). Go back in, tweak, burn, and...

If anyone wants to practice their mixing, here you go!

Hi all: I am currently finishing up on my latest cd, and here is a zip file of one of the songs: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/9075586/Promises2.zip. I have someone lined up to mix but they can't start for a while, and I was hoping someone on here would like to play with the song and see what they can...

    pod vs j station

I have both, and found the best way to do it is to split your signal and run into both modelers at the same time. Bring the outs into a mixer and pan the POD hard left and right and the J-Station at 10 and 2, and adjust the levels of each to your taste (I run about 60% POD and 40% J-Station)...

Preamp for the 001 or preamp under $300?

I was a Presonus BlueTube owner for years and thought it was a pretty good pre. A few days ago I decided to try the Art MP Gold (since it went down to 299.00 at most all online retailers), expecting to hear little or no difference and send it back in a day or two. Let me tell you WAS I WRONG! It...

Best way to do Rock drums electonically

Skip all that looping and sampling and do what I did...get Complete Drums. It's a cd with 18 tracks (16 bit wav's) in hard rock and heavy metal styles, and whats cool is it is complete songs. They are just basic verse chorus verse chorus type layouts so they are easy to write to. Instead of...

    Drum samples!!!

If you can't find the samples you are looking for, you might try going to http://www.johnnylokke.com/completedrums/ He sells a drumtrack cd (wav files) that has 15 complete songs in verse/chorus/verse format instead of having to jack with loops or samples. After you write a song, you can even...
