I just removed my Dvd-rom and the changed my HP cd-writer from "slave" to "master" ............ the BIOS screen recognized the CD-writer "as it has been" and also recognized that it had been changed to "master" - so it looks like the hardware works but Windows doesn't want to see it...

fine I had the 24/96 until recently . I am now running a ProTools studio. I miss the Aardvark. It worked flawlessly for me under Win98. It recorded 4 tracks, live, for hours and my pent600 never cried. It was responsive and the sound was right on. lD
