    Micing Drums

XY pattern, with one on the Bass Drum. Two overhead mics at a V angle with a D112 or something like it on the Kick. I think it works the best for getting everything. Make sure you watch out on the cross phasing. Listen to the cymbals so they have a steady wash, not a in and out sound. There's a...

Not Sure if this is a myth

Triggers I think the new craze is beefing up the BD. If you add some low end that the mic cant reproduce then you can seriously bump it up! I have seen this through my friends setup and he can get the punch through his two 18's that the mic can't. He plays on a Iron cobra double bass so I...

    Kick drum: triggering? samples? drumagog?

Triggers For live applications throw a trigger on the batter of the Kick and a good mic on the front. If you have 18" close by you'll see how much difference it makes. I'm not sure but I think you can only use Drummagogg only after the fact?

    One Ringing Tom

Toms Hey, I'll take it! :) My good friends kit was an old (80's) Slingerland and he had them tuned perfectly. I have never heard a tom sound like that since then. Moongels are the best for taking out that unwanted ring. Also check out your heads,Thinner heads will ring more.
