Why go cheap on the kick? I would spend $100-$200 on a D112/B52.(used of course). Or step up to the plate with a E/V... Well maybe someday I'll get one :D I prefer a good kick mic :)

Tune them low.... Thats funny!I hate the sound of Roto toms tuned low. But I also like the sound of a marching snare drum also, so that tells you about my ear :p
