Big Drum sizes Bonham style. Is it a fad or here to stay?

Sometimes concert bass drums are deeper. My marching drum is 14" deep. I like shallower bass drums because they seem to speak faster, but I know most people like 16" or 18" depths. Aside from that, it should work fine. :)

Big Drum sizes Bonham style. Is it a fad or here to stay?

A larger kick drum does sound very different. I have a 26" kick on my 1965 Slingerland kit (it came with a 22" but I found a 26" 1965 Slingerland marching bass drum that I rewrapped to match my kit (plus added spurs). You can listen to my kick drum here...

    Studiomaster 16-4-2: Solo not working?

Yup, I just popped in my headphones and it was indeed in stereo. :o Thanks for the help. If I had actually used my brain, I wouldn't have had to post!

    Studiomaster 16-4-2: Solo not working?

Ok, well after reading your response, I decided to make extra sure that every output didn't work with solo. Of course, the one I didn't try, the single "monitor" output, worked (doh!). So, unless this is a single stereo 1/4" output, I have to monitor in mono. I'm going to make a stereo Y-cable...

    Studiomaster 16-4-2: Solo not working?

I bought a Studiomaster 16-4-2 via eBay recently. I'm really happy with the sound of this board... a big step up from my Mackie. However, I can't figure out for the life of me how to get Solo to work. It doesn't seem to do anything! The solo light comes on, but I still here the main mix. I...

    Calibrating a Tascam 22-2

Sorry if I'm coming off stupid here, but I just re-read your reply. So if I understand correctly, I calibrate the bias trap to the same frequency that I set the "bias trimmer" to?

    Audix d-6

Audix D4 I picked up a D6, but now wish I bought the D4 instead. I don't like the Pre-eq-ed sound, although it's not as bad as the AKG D112. I couldn't decide between the D6 and D4. I got the D6, but luckily a friend bought the D4. I borrowed it from him and used it on some quieter indie folk...

WARNING: The music on this Compact Disc...

Indeed. And as a vinyl enthusiast and budding audiophile, I have learned that not all LPs are the same mastering. Popular records from the 60s and 70s were essentially mastered again when they pressing plant wore out the stamper. And it's not always the first pressing that's the best. You have...

    Calibrating a Tascam 22-2

Thanks for the reply. Update: I did find the service manual, so I have a better idea of what I'm doing on this machine. I tried the directions in the manual (using a voltmeter) but I never got a static reading. I'll give it a shot again today. I have a feeling one of the leads on my meter is...

I've been very impressed with the Audix D series. I borrowed a D4 from a friend and prefer that over the...

    Calibrating a Tascam 22-2

Yup, another calibration thread. :D Last night I worked on calibrating my Tascam 22-2. I tried to follow the directions here: http://www.recordingwebsite.com/articles/tapecal.php I have an MLR tape (unfortunately, it's 250 Nw/m instead of the 185 that I need for Quantegy 407, but I'm...

    Outboard Gear for Quasi-Analog Mixing

Hi... I believe this is my first post. Nice place you got here. I record using a DAW, but I have a Tascam 22-2 that I recently cleaned up and calibrated. I am working on a project right now, and we want to mix to analog tape. I'll be bussing everything out via my two Delta 1010s...
