Next time you visit the liquor store

Yeah, the teeth were strange, but really, it's just another endorcement thing- a clever one, but bands do that all the time. Sometimes, it's to co-hype an upcoming tour AND the tour sponsor at the same time. Sure, it's crass and opportunistic and a thousand other bad things, but that's what...

Did Anyone Else Think That 4 Guitarist Could Play Through ONE Amp?

Back in the day, Fender (others, too) had two separate input channels, each with two input plugs. We (my high school garage band mates and I) thought that was so up to four (or at least, two) guitarist could play through one amp. No one does that, these days, but I wonder- was that part of the...

    Home recording and live gear

If you are talking new, there are NO mics in the $20-30 range I would recommend. You might score some Shure SM-58 clones for that price, or about $10-20 more. SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY- cheap mics will drive you nuts. Current Mackie gear is often not much better than Behringer, both are built to...

Any interest in an ADAT that will chase tape?

I have no idea what you are trying to say.

    NGD: Vintage Gibson SG

Finished cleaning, strung it up right-handed, had my bud Norman play it today while we worked on a couple originals. He likes it. We are both kinda scratching our heads, can't really figure out how such a guitar could be worth upwards of $7500, but hey, it is what it is.

The Marriage of Figaro - by Elena House, 13 yrs old

May I ask a direct question? (Yeah, like I'm gonna wait and/or listen if you say "no...") I know you are 13, and certainly you don't have to have a direction mapped out, but where do you think you are going with your talents? Classical, as in opera, or choral? Broadway? Pop? Are, or you...

    NGD: Vintage Gibson SG

Scored this one at a garage sale. Not gonna say what I paid for it, so don't ask. Suffice to say, I am a man of modest means, these days. Some inconsistencies- S/N says it's a '61 (according to a SN resource on-line, it was first made in '59,) but truss rod cover does not have "Les Paul"...

Still have it, haven't though of selling it for a while- but I probably should, as I am not getting much use out of it. Such a beautiful guitar, though! Did I name an asking price?

Unopened Sticky and Non-sticky tapes wanted for research at the Library of Congress

Now, there is good stuff- if I read this right, once breitung1's research is concluded and published, anyone who has possibly SSS tape will be able to determine, beforehand, if it SSS or not. Given that tape is becoming more and more hard to come by, this seems to have real potential to prevent...

    Gibson Pickups

I've got Burstbucker Pro's on my LP- very nice, more vintage than hot, but def. not "lukewarm."

    Epi Les Paul Redo!

Changing pups will be result in the biggest change and greatest bang for your buck, but what you like is gonna be hugely subjective. I love the Gibson Burstbucker Pro Alneco 5's I put in my epi paul, you may not. Some say you gotta change pots, that epi pots are crap, but I did not and have...

Advice on Zoom R16 before I buy

I like my Zoom R16 (although I have not used it much, lately.) Yeah, only 8 channels simulataineously, but if you need 8 more, hook two of 'em together. You can do that. SD cards do fill up fast- just buck up and buy the big ones. Used this one as an interface once, and it worked fine. Used...

Will someone pleasehelp me recreate this guitar tone

I'm hearing reverb, perhaps some wah (try auto wah, it may take days to develop the subtle technique with a wah-wah pedal,) and LOTS of finger expressiveness- something you either have or your don't. That can't be developed in a few days.

Do you think my voice is too deep?

I try to not comment on this sort of pos unless I know what I am talking about. I am a vocalist- pop and choir- have some formal/classical training, too, so I feel qualified in saying these things- take them as you wish. Your intonation is, as mentioned, not great, but that can be addressed...
