Best way to get audio from microphone onto PC?

Cool, but just remember there are more options out there than the ones I've mentioned. Those should give you an idea of the possibilities.

Best way to get audio from microphone onto PC?

Ok, gotcha. Personally, I think you'd be better off with either a PCI or FireWire device. I'm assuming you're using a tower and not a laptop. I have 2 Echo Layla 24/96 interfaces (PCI), and they work perfectly, but seeing as how they're discontinued you'd have to get a used one or go withone of...

Best way to get audio from microphone onto PC?

I could recommend a lot of things at this point, but I need to know a little more about what you're doing or planning to do. Do you already have recording software? EDIT: OK, you have Fast Track which I know nothing about.

You're still gonna need some kind of interface to accept the signal(s). How many inputs are you looking for? What kind of stuff are you looking to record?

Best way to get audio from microphone onto PC?

It depends on the application. For example, I use an external mic pre-amp for all the mics on my drums (M-Audio Octane) or the mic pres in my mixer (Mackie 1604) via its aux sends or inserts for other mics. In general, though, you'll find a good mic pre is going to be better than one that's...

    Portastudio or PC interface

The Tascam DP01FX has been discontinued. But I think the main issue in a choice between a portable all-in-one unit and using a tower is convenience and ease of use. Do you need to be mobile, and does the Porta-type unit come with software you can use on a PC? Then go with that. If you want more...

    Killing Joke in NYC 10/11

Due to an act of pure stupidity on my part (ie, not remembering that I have a gig in D.C. on the same night), I have 2 tickets for Killing Joke's original lineup reunion tour at the Fillmore in NYC that I can't use. I'll even eat the service charge if you take 'em off my hands for the face value...

    How do I....

Yeah, but don't tell anyone! :D For some reason my ISP is blocking emails from lightningmp3, but NL5 was nice enough to help me out. Here is what I was talking about. I did this as an experiment. It's backup vocals for one of Jamie Holiday's songs. He liked it so much we ended up using it as an...

    Delay Calculator

Nice! I just bookmarked it. I usually take the tempo and divide by 60 as a starting point. But this app should save me a little time refining delay time.

    How do I....

Pfff, backwards reverb is easy. Backwards delay, now there's a challenge. I'd post a link to the clip I just uploaded to lightningmp3, but I haven't gotten a confirmation email yet........

    Korg X5D. Dead battery?

Well, I just got a call from the repair tech, and it looks like the main board is toast. Over $500 to replace it (labor included) so I said "Don't bother. I can get a new synth for that much." He said, "Yep." R.I.P. my little Korg X5D....... :(

Hard drives and CD/DVD ROMs are the only computer components with moving parts. It's likely a hard drive dying. BACK UP EVERYTHING NOW!
