    Article: Guitar Distortion. Enjoy.

We should have a beer over this discussion... :drunk: and then we'll go back to my place and compare a 64 Bassman, 77 JMP, 67 Champ, and 5150. Maybe I've missed something along the way. :)

Not my cup of tea but interesting how you turn comments into a referendum on the poster's likes... almost like a qualification.

    sansamp GT-2

I've owned a GT-2 for years. How do you plan on using it? You ask is it any good? It depends on what good is to you and how you're going to use it.

    Dual Rect. Price

yes... while I don't own one I've had access to several over many years. I'm not suggesting a 2ch is not god's gift to metal but I'm just taking exception to your over generalization that a 3ch is fizzy and sounds like shit. nothing more. :)

    Dual Rect. Price

I'd say fizz management is in the player's hands. I own a 3ch and fizz has never been an issue. Maybe our fizz definitions are different. I find my 3ch to be a very versatile amp. An amp newb may want to stay away though. :laughings:

Senheiser MD421 v Cascade fathead II

I basically agree with this quick summary. When a Ribbon and Dynamic like a 57 are mixed and phase is managed, the 57 can really give the Ribbon the edge it may lack. You can't beat the bottom end and creamy tones a ribbon will deliver and the upper end edge a dynamic will get you. Combine...

Ideal room characteristics for metal guitar?

thanks and I checked them out. Why is your interest directed at the room in this case with micing heavy gtr? What amps and speakers do have available? You may find this interesting... here's a reamp I did for a guy sometime ago. The speaker really makes this difference.

Ideal room characteristics for metal guitar?

I'm not familiar with Albini's metal guitar recordings. Can you possibly list some? But, if you are close micing a loud cab, I'm not sure how much influence the room will have.

    Dual Rect. Price

IMO $1000US is a fair price for a 3Ch Dual Rectifier assuming it's in excellent working order. EL34 or 6l6 power tubes?
