    Budget Phantom powered Ribbon Mic?

I do not hesitate to use either. They are different though. Fat Head is closer to a r121. The Trion 7000 is a bit scooped. Here's some comparisons I did a while back: Ribbon Mic comparison using V30 speaker. Mic is 6.5 inches out from speaker rim aimed dead center. Mic Order: R121 Fat...

OP, are you recording the whole song all instruments? start to finish? or just a section?

    Starting a mic collection...

Fat Head is a very descent all rounder. Don't overlook the mic pre. Not to over generalize, but I've found inexpensive Condensers can be a real hit or miss with the top end... this and an inexpensive pre, can be somewhat lacking. Select carefully. Afford the most quality you can.

    Home-Studio Amp

I should have been way more succinct... I don't have a clue what awesome means when someone else uses that phrase... and especially in the context of a 5 watt amp. Now if someone says, it sounds awesome and here's a clip... then just possibly/maybe a point of reference can be gleaned.

    Home-Studio Amp

I don't have a clue what sounds awesome is except what sounds awesome to me. I'm not bagging ya, but I generally play much larger amps and I know a 5 watt'r just isn't going to cut it for me and it's not an experience issue.

    Home-Studio Amp

Maybe you guys be talkin' past each other. The big sound reference was directed at power chords. For live I agree because it takes power to drive the bottom. No 1 Watt amp's going to deliver a power chord live. I also agree with you but case-by-case. For recording it's a mixed bag. I...

    C - 1X B - .1X A - .01X To me C is the most pleasing and A is the least pleasing, so I put B in the middle.

Two Mics For An Amp Speaker: To The Same Track Or Separate Tracks??

Maybe Samplitude is different from others, but in Samplitude nothing is lost and convenience is gained with a Stereo track.

    Tube preamp for tube amp?

With two different mic types like a Ribbon and a 57, blending them acts as an excellent EQ. Also, sample sliding can be very beneficial.

    Recording Guitar direct

you don't have to crank an amp to get get a really good overdriven tone. post a clip that you would send to a speaker emulator and post a clip after your best speaker emulator.

    DI guitar recording

FWIW... here's a SLO lower gain reamp followed by a short wank for comparison. IMO your DI hangs together much better. Chain is a bit different OD808 -> SLO -> mesa 2x12 -> 12M75 -> r92-i5
