Or a chainsaw! :p Imagine, you can brag to fellow musicians: "...yeah, but a MD421 sounds great on chainsaw too, dude!" (Optionaly change "great" to "awesome" if you're hip.)

Diy guitar cabs. What wood would you use?

You can find all kinds of specs on different sizes Marshall 2 x 12 cabs, Fender 2 x 12 cabs etc. Bogner have some kind of oversized 2 x 12 cab that I'm curious about. Another interesting tip I got, from a guy specialised in refurbishing Fender amps, is to get a good 15" speaker and build it...

You don't need to, ussually it's a loose wire right behind the input connector, or maybe in the M/V switch. If the problem is in the grill you've got a dead capsule, forget it about it then.

    Need help with mic choice.

Do you think a Behringer XM8500 will be able to mow my lawn? It's slightly over budget though. :wtf:

    Need help with mic choice.

There've been complaints about low activity here today, so I thought I'd help out. I need a mic that sounds good on everything (!), can do the washing, walk my dog and mow the lawn. I've got a $12.35 budget. What are my options? :drunk:

Could be just a wiring problem in the dead one. Can you handle a soldering kit?

    New, possibly complicated question.

So you blend the bass and the guitar through a Behringer mixer, but seperate all the drum signals? A more conventional way would be to mix the toms together on the mixer and give the guitar and bass seperate tracks. Just a suggestion.

    Is Behringer really that bad?

Behringer simply copy products made by other brands, but with cheaper components. :spank: Their products are cheap because they don´t invest in development and use those cheap parts. The result depends on: 1. The quality of the product they copied. 2. If the cheaper components can hold...

A reminder that I am a noob... (KAM Crystal)

There's only one way to learn, we all make mistakes, nothing to be ashamed about. Just make sure you're learning off every experience, wether pos or neg.

Diy guitar cabs. What wood would you use?

I did some research a while back and found this information quite easy to find. An often used mix is a pine box, with a birch plywood backpanel and a chipwood (not the cheap kind) front panel.

The bootleggers see these sites too, they make them look better and better, did you measure the impedance? Make no mistake, friendly store owners also have to pay overheads, this deal sounds to good to be true. I hope I'm wrong in this case.

Just picked up a Shure SM57 for $37

I don't want to burst your bubble: It is probably a fake one, made in China. Check out the sites about fake Shure SM57's & SM58's. They look real, but sound crap. There's a boxed SM58 in my local pawn shop now for ages. You can get them off ebay for about $30 each.

    Art Pro Channel Preamp

About those ART units being noisy: The GOLD version was apparantly noisy and a lot of people were modding them. However, ART actually looked at those mods and put them in the upgraded ART PRO MP II. I won't say it's a fantastic preamp, but it's NOT noisy. I used one last year to record...
