Man, I would buy a better pre ASAP. I wouldn't put down that kind of money for a dynamic mic to be used with just the sound card's pres. Atleast do it some justice and get a DMP3 or MS1b.

If its for ELECTRIC guitar, you should check out some of the "nicer" dynamic mics, like the EV RE20 and the Sennheiser 421 MKII. I hope you have a good preamp to complement buying a nice mic, though.
