Do BOTH mics clip with the amp not up very loud? That doesn't sound right. I wouldn't think that the mics would clip even if the amp was fairly loud.

The Wharfies probably are the best under $650. The first monitors in a higher price range that I've heard of people agreeing to be better are the Tannoy Reveal actives, which start around $650.

deepwater, who owns the RP8s and 8.2s, has said numerous times that he prefers the Wharfedales. He also sells KRK and Wharfedale stuff, and the KRKs cost $200 more, so that should tell you something.
