    compress during tracking??

Again, I refer to "Behind The Glass", a few big wig producers interviewed say they track with effects, all kinds including reverbs and delays, but most said they will also record a dry track as well, just incase. I was surprised to learn many of these producers have set effects they use on most...

    Mixer For Reel To Reel

I have a TSR-8 and a M-308 mixer. Great combo and the board is built like a tank. Everything about the board is great for the money. I paid $125 on ebay for mine. The EQ section is good, though not as good as my old 388, the preamps are good although I use the pres on my Fatman compressor/preamp...

    compress during tracking??

I'm going to refer to my fav book at the moment (Behind The Glass). In it just about every producer says they track vocals with light compression and later add more as/if needed.

    A tascam 388 and Madona

I really wouldn't call it vague. Maybe misleading? Perhaps Boston used it on a snippit somewhere on the album? Although not impossible to believe it's BS, I'm more inclined to think there must be some connection for Tascam to claim that.

    A tascam 388 and Madona

You're just plain wrong. Then again what would make anyone think the albums producer knows more than you? :D BOSTON'S "MORE THAN A FEELING" Dan Daley In 1976, mainstream American rock was making the transition from blues-based proto-metal to what would become a decade-and-a-half's worth of...

    A tascam 388 and Madona

Right here for starters From Tascam's own site: 1976...Although short lived, the Series 70 was the first 1/2" multitrack in existence. It paved the way for the 80-8. Introduced into the marketplace in January 1976, the durability and performance of the 80-8 1/2" 8 track reel-to-reel tape...

    A tascam 388 and Madona

I've searched the net and thus far found reputable sources all saying different things. They all agree he used a Scully, however some say it was an 8-track some say it was a 12-track, but I've found nothing about a 24 track other than the mobile recording truck that they used. If he did in fact...

    A tascam 388 and Madona

I believed for some time that they used the Tascam on that album. However, I ran into a nice gentleman (forget his name, but could find out) on another board who claims to have been in Tom's basement and involved in some sort at the time and he says it was the Skully 12 track that was used and...

    Rode NT1A - Vs - SP C1

I agre with DJL. I own the B-1, B-3 and C-1 and the C-1 is a little hyped, but that's not a bad thing for a lot of people and applications. I like the C-1 better on my voice, it gives a sheen, a somewhat more "expensive" sound. The B-1 is a fantastic all around mic, although I'm not crazy about...

whats the catch on these mics? why are they so cheap?

This is funny. All the feedbacks were left yesterday and now half of the "sellers" are no longer registered users! lol.

    Blue Microphones

That's the story of all mics, it all depends. The only way to see if a mic is REALLY going to work for you and your application/s is to buy it, take it home and try it out in your recording space with your equipment, running your chain, playing your instruments, recording your performances, your...

    what guitar is for me?

I hate threads like this ... where some idiot doesn't even know the difference between "your" and "you're." Learn how to spell first, then you'll at least be a smart dick head as opposed to the stupid dick head you are now :D

    Mic placement?

Vocals and bass are often printed to tape/digital with compression. In fact almost every producer interviewed in "Behind the glass" say they record with compression on vocals, leaving room for more if desired/needed at mix down.

Solved Behringer B-1 vs Shure SM57

I take it you think the cool regs out here flame newbies just for the heck of it and being the follower you are you'll score points with them by acting the same? Is your penis really THAT small?

That's great for you. For me, it's all INSPIRATION! That's the only kind of writing I know, it's what writing is all about .. to me. I come up with melodies in my head, often times when I'm around no instrument at all, often times when I'm not thinking about it. No amount of music knowledge is...

    Akai 202D-SS Surround Stereo

Won't have the time to mess with it until this weekend. It's up my girlfriends house at the moment. From the little research I've done looks like it was mostly meant for playback, a very early version of surround sound and there were 1/4 reel tapes of popular songs of the day (75-76) just for...
