I like it. I too dig the snare sound, it fits the music. Nice open and airy production and cool song.

Is there any behringer gear that is "good"?

Heck, pick up "Behind The Glass" and note just how many real A-list producers and engineers recording A-list commercial albums by A-list artists use some home consumer based "budget" gear. Everything from Behringer compressors to TC finalizers to Zoom stomp boxes. I think the biggest...

Looking for a reverb unit and/or multi effect box

Oh, Xstatic my friend  Reviews are of course useless, everyone doing them is lying, and none of them have a shred of intergrity. Even people who give a product a bad review are currupt as the competition is no doubt lining their pockets.

Did I actually type "by"? .. Yikes!

Looking for a reverb unit and/or multi effect box

The fact is budget gear has come along way and much of it just doesn't suck these days. I read plenty of gear reviews that are not at all glowing. You'll often read things like "not recommended" or "there are better products out there in this price range" or "the reverbs sound harsh and ringy"...

Looking for a reverb unit and/or multi effect box

It's not ridiculous at all, what's wrong with researching a product and learning as much about it as you can before you decide if you'd like to shell out for it? It's not ridiculous, not when the person doing the review is a highly respected professional who happens to know a heck of a lot more...

Looking for a reverb unit and/or multi effect box

Albert. Fact is, and I'll say it again, what you consider mid-priced units, include some of the most respected, used and loved units that adorn many a pro (as in A-list) studios around the world. You said: "To expect high or mid quality performance of budget gear is not reasonable" Expect is...

Looking for a reverb unit and/or multi effect box

Just for a REAL reality check, like it or not, spin it or not the fact is that most people don't consider A $1,500 effects a mid priced unit and many of the most highly acclaimed, in every pro studio type big name effect units sell new for less. Generally when people out here talk about a budget...

Looking for a reverb unit and/or multi effect box

Your "modded" LXP-15 is not a newer unit and it wasn't cheap. If memory serves me it was about twice as much as a V-55.

Looking for a reverb unit and/or multi effect box

I think I have three pieces of Behringer gear, a compressor that works great and has for the past seven years, a bass amp that sounds fine and the V-Verb which sounds GREAT. I've tried most of today's lower and mid priced all-in-ones and the V-55 is better sounding, 4-in, 4-outs, has more...

I hate micing amps (Continued). I bought a vamp and here is my sample!

Sounds like you guys were just recording practice with one mic. I love the Jr and I like the tone you're getting, but it doesn't at all sound like the amp is mic'd, just sounds like a jam session and someone through up a mic in the room.

why are studio monitors used to record?

Sorry, but Polk aren't really considered a high end speakers. Don't know much about Infinity.

Mic choice narrowed - still need advice

I was talking about the other song, I didn't know it was done in a real studio until after I posted. If this is your first shot at recording then you are WAYYYY ahead of the curve as there are many many people who have been doing this for years and aren't producing anything close to the quality...

Mic choice narrowed - still need advice

The recordings sound very good (though I'd ease up on the verb all around), but I wouldn't say these other mics are going to be an upgrade of the C-1, different yes, but no way of telling if they will be better. If you want a different flavor, then go for it, but don't be disappointed if there's...

    MSH-4 Tube mic test

Big Kenny, I was just going to say the same thing before I read your post. This should show everyone that good solid playing of quality music trumps the equipment nine times out of ten. Not saying the mics aren't good, just saying this music would sound good recorded on a 4-track cassette...

    Apex 205...mod or not?

Well, the flavor of the day is to "mod" everything but the kitchen sink. I've heard some "mods" that make a mic sound better, on a particular source being recorded in a particular room using a particular chain run through particular gear. But, I've heard far more that just sound different and...

so who is the big cheese in ribbon mics this week?

The usual suspects like vocals and acoustic guitar. I haven't completed a song using it yet but it seems for some of my acoustic or more mellow songs it's going to work nice in the mix. I'm sure it must be branded and sold by others for a much higher price, but I'd recommend it to anyone on a...
