Ooh me! Pick me! Like I said, I've always wanted one, but never had the money.

TAE Tried to send you a PM. You're full.

Delta 1010lt, more trouble than its worth?

I didn't expect them to help me. That's what the Tardis is for. I just thought the amp would be a nice addition to the package, since I'd need something small. I have no use for an acoustic amp. That's for people that play out, which will never be me again.

    whats your 2020 setup?

My mom always said 'you can do whatever you want with YOUR house when you have one." She forgot to add 'as long as it's OK with your wife'. Kind of an important part to leave out, as it turns out.

Commonly used sayings that should be song lyrics?

My line is 'WTF is wrong with people?' You're welcome. BTW, would you send me some of whatever it is you're having today? Apparently I'm in need.

TAE Don't think you've got the market cornered on shame. Kinda like Seeger said - "20 years, where'd they go? 20 years, I don't know. I sit and wonder sometimes where they've gone.'

I would have though that they were pretty much the same thing, and if anything the motoriized faders would have been problematic. Good to know.

Too little for me. I want something more full size. I keep thinking about looking for an old Behri BCF-2000. They're probably all broken by now.

    Cheap ccntroller?

Is there one that works well with Reaper? I keep thinking about looking for an old Behri BCF-2000. They're probably all broken by now.

I know you're farther (further?) south than me, but not beyond the equator, so shouldn't they look right side up to me?:D

That'll work. I think the VC1 was a slightly higher end unit, but now I can't really remember.

Well, he didn't really say it was because of size or portability. That's what had me/us confused.

What controller did you use? I've been wanting to get one for Reaper. I prefer physical faders too.

Well, I thought the whole point of the Meeks was the compressor that went with them.

I guess I see what you're saying about the workflow. Pretty sure anyone still using large format tape is doing so because of the way it SOUNDS, though, not because it's easier to use. And I don't know of a standalone DAW that's going to SOUND as good as a computer based one.

Newbie alert! Rubber vs mesh heads?

First off, I'm not a drummer, never will be. I don't have the coordination, never will. My hat's off to you guys. All I want to do is two things. 1) Lay down individual parts (layer one drum or cymbal part at a time) to build and flesh out my own stuff, using midi so I can pick whatever...

It might help if we got clarification from the OP on WHY he specifically doesn't want to use a desktop or laptop as opposed to a standalone unit, if portability is not the issue. That's really teh only advantage I can see to one, unless he's under the impression that they're simpler to use...

Delta 1010lt, more trouble than its worth?

Yeah, that's why I was asking what he wants to do with it, like you originally did. I'm guessing he's a newbie and perhaps fidelity isn't his main concern - yet. But I would think an old Yamaha mixer would probably get him whre he wants to go for now. But, of course, we still don't know where he...

And yes, you can get mixers for dirt cheap.
