I used to have a Big Baby (I miss that guitar) that was great for being in a mix for that very reason. A slightly percussive crispness. I think using Elixers helped too. Something about that combination.
Yeah, it's just to tame the volume. I don't know what babies you've been around, but nobody's sleeping through what mine put out, and the biggest amp I've got is a Blues Jr. I guess I should use a power soak of some kind first, but that almost defeats the purpose, with no speaker break up.
But...
OK, so I've got a couple of Randall Iso-Cabs, each with a 12, but different speakers.
I would like to build essentially an iso-cab, or even a booth, to put each one of them in. Double isolation, if you will.
I'd rather they be cabs to take up the least amount of room possible, and I could have...
You might also look into a Sennheiser 421. Or a 441 if you've got the cash.
And weirdly, a guy told me once that the Audix i5 makes a pretty good substitute for an SM-7b, and a whole lot cheaper.
Now, there is a guy who used to hang here that said the 3000B was just about his favorite mic ever. I've always thought I should get one of those to see. He said it was one of those Swiss Army-type mics, good for all kinds of stuff.
Well, I like mine. And I've never really been a fan of the 58. I'd actually rather sing into a 57 with it's factory foam windscreen. Somehow I know better how to 'work it'. Habit, I guess.
I need to find one. It's for a Behri tube screamer clone, so if it's not cheap, it won't be worth it.
Heck, it probably won't be worth the effort, but I won't know until I fix it.
I'm assuming mastering has changed in the era of mp3s through earbuds.
Used to be, there were basically 2 masters, one for radio (assuming the car) and one for the home.
Now everything's either mp3, usually through earbuds, or cable TV, possibly through a soundbar.
So, how has this changed...
Thanks. While both of those look like they could be useful, I'd really like more of a full-size mixer-type thing. I would think it would be frustrating to have to constantly reassign the single fader on the Presonus to different tracks every time you wanted to tweak something. I don't handle...
Thanks, man. I'm not too worried about them not feeling like real drums because, like I said, I'm not a drummer. I've played around on friends' drums before, but not enough to get used to the feel (and it's been a LONG time ago). Room sound is REALLY important to me, though. But I'm afraid if I...
