While the GPU takes most of the duty about graphics, the CPU has to make the link between the GPU and the hard drive/CD drive. Guess what happens when you play 64 tracks? The CPU has to make a link between your HDD and your soundcard, just like it does between the HDD and GPU when playing games.

If we go back to the original topic, the guy wants a CPU for a DAW... As far as I know, a DAW is NOT about encoding MP3, making videos, infographism and shite like that...it's more about what you get when you play a game. When you play 64 audio tracks at 96k/32bit you put the kind to strain...

Well, I really like the mastered version. The drums are now loud enough for me and the guitars sit much better... and I dig the reverb on vocals! Yeah, listening to the original again, 4 guitars is too much. But I have to say that the mastering job the guy did is shite as far as LOUDNESS is...

I play and mix mainstream rock and I shoot for -8dBRMS, which is NOT loud..but it's damn hard to acheive. More often than not, I end up being maxed out at -9.5 dBRMS.

Dude, you can't compare a SERVER processor with a "hometown little bungalow consumer processor" like a P4. Of course, XEON processors are good, but they are in another league! We are comparing P4 to AMD Athlon 64 here...and the Athlon is much more brutal, look at benchmarks.

Well, when you design an amp, you can't simply take a design and increase the power. It's A LOT more complex than this. But basically, larger and more powerful power amps have more linearity when used at medium levels than a smaller amp used near it's full potential.
