    Mastering Monitors

I will back up anyone who says buy Bob's book. Bob is a one-of-a-kind guy, and has a heart for teaching. If you notice in the thank you's in the front of the book, he thanks all those that will come after him, so he's not just another "Mastering Guy". I have a chance to meet Bob and go up to his...

    Delta1010 vs. RME vs. ???

About two years ago I bought a 1010, hated it returned it, swore off digital audio. Sad I know :) But then I saw the light, which was really me talking to and learning from engineers who have worked for people like George Benson, The Brecker Brothers, Desmond Child, J-Lo, P-Diddy, Notorius BIG...

Ok, here's the gear I plan to buy...

the digi 001 is your best option. here's why... you can maximize it to 18 inputs and outputs in the future via SPDIF and Adat Optical inputs and outputs (I/Os), you can bus and route auxes out of all of those I/Os to use outboard equipment when you buy it. And with this expandibility you can...

    Favorite print home recording mag?

TapeOp gets my vote. The new article on Chad Clark is amazing (probably since my favorite band is The Plan, but anywho). Mix also gets a vote from me, expensive as He!! on the newstand, but only $25-30 to subscribe depending on what deal they have going on. Yes you will be slobbering over the...

    Best customer service EVER!

It's great that you had a good experience with Monster Cable, but you know that you could have made that same cable at your home for $15... I make all my own cables, unless it's a specialty cable for a power unit from a mic. You can buy the same cable that Mogami, Monster, BLUE, and every other...

    KRK Monitors

KRK's are great, I love them. The only monitor companies I like better are Westlake and ADAM. Anyway... if you like them, and think they sounded great, then by all means - get them! That's the point, find the monitors that YOU like, not me, or any one of us for that matter. Musik

Help with a amp mic choice...

Hey, the R121 is only $1100 :) You can always stick a U87 in between the 57 and 121 and mix the 3 mics, but it doesn't always work if you can't control it in mix down, that's why I stick with the 57 and 121 combination, it's like magic!!! Musik

Help with a amp mic choice...

Use a 57 close up on the grill, and a Royer R121 to capture some room tone. I have had nothing but great sounding guitars with that setup. Musik

    B&W DM601 S3 as monitors!?

Skywalker Sound uses them in their studios, so trust me, B&W's would be great monitors, they are flat as hell for a hi-fi speaker, and sound great... plus you can listen to them all day and not get ear fatigue... Later, Musik

any DPA or Schoeps users here?

You aren't screwed if KM184s aren't cutting it, yes they are good for many applications, but when it comes to the ability to reproduce a large group of instruments you may just need to spend some cash... Some ideas are the DPA 3532-S's, wow, I have not used these mics but I have sat in on...

    Next Step in My Studio?

I wouldn't say that a Blue Baby Bottle would be a really nice mic that would last you a while, and I would say don't buy it until you have some essentials that have proven to work on a wider range of instruments and people... look into getting some standards like some SM57s, MD421s, and...
