Does anyone have any recommendations for a stereo pair of medium diaphram mics

Thanks for all the ideas. I think I'll be having an audio engineer add reverb and hall reflections later so I'm thinking maybe I should go with a small diaphram cardioid mic to get a clean accurate recording, and have it juiced up later. Pariticularly since I have to distance mic in a crappy...

    Peluso CEMC6 vs. Oktavamod M012?

Thanks for the great info! So in light of you saying I'd be better off having the reverb and hall reflections added later, which I am now taking your word on and will go with, do you think I'd be better off with the MK012, or 103? Your mics are still strong contenders for me due to rave reviews...

    Peluso CEMC6 vs. Oktavamod M012?

Hello there---Sorry for the misquote. I wanted to e-mail you back to clarify what you meant by "roomy" but felt sort funny about taking up more of your time. What does it mean it, practically, that "the room will put a small box sound around my piano if the early reflections are not attenuated."...

Does anyone have any recommendations for a stereo pair of medium diaphram mics

Yeah, thanks, I heard a recording with the Beyers and they sound great and I've read about them. I'm considering them. Whatever mic I settle on, I'll have to sell off the one's I won't use. I see what you mean about the results not quite working out with the larger diaphrams. The treble does...

Does anyone have any recommendations for a stereo pair of medium diaphram mics

Well I have a pair of pulsars which I just recently found out are 3/4" diaphram. In ORTF they sound great---I'm after a 'lush" sort of sound. So I am experimenting with them, and Rode NT1A's. Thought I'd try a LDC to hear the difference. The sound is even fuller although a little too much so and...

    Peluso CEMC6 vs. Oktavamod M012?

Well the room is furnished. The piano is on wall to wall carpet and past the piano, the kitchen--(living room /kitchen combo) the floors are wood. I don't feel there is a lot of wall reflection, however I'm no expert. I do feel that a lot of the sound is absorbed--is that a good thing? I...

    Peluso CEMC6 vs. Oktavamod M012?

Yeah I know it's tough. Can't get as close as I would like due to the damper noise. Will talk to my Steinway tech guy to see how much noise can be reduced. Otherwise have to just find the best sound from 5-7 feet away. Do omnis tend to make more self-noise the further you pull them form the...

help! I'm stuck. don't know where to turn next

Thanks for the suggestions, the STO2's sounds interesting Not sure how natural I want the sound at this point. For instance my NT1A's produce a little fuzzier tone that sounds rich, smooths out the sound, hides defects, you know, makes the piano registers blend more. However if you go to far...

Yeah, thanks. I've seen the 3035's online for $115. I'm going to experoment with my NT!A's a little more. Really have to wait a few weeks as I'm getting a recorder with MUCH better preamps. I think only then I'll be able to asess things. I think I'm leaning towards medium size diaphram at this...

My microtrack broke already--waiting for m-audio reply to my incident report--I hate cheap crap-- Yeah I've learned through reading that as far as preamps go you get what you pay for. I think the Tascam HD P2 with the rebuilt preamps will do me fine in lieu of not being able to afford an SD...

help! I'm stuck. don't know where to turn next

Yeah I've read a lot of good reviews of the MR-1000. Don't know anyone who I would want to have play the piano, but I enjoy doing the work myself. I haven't used anything but the microtrack, so nothing to compare. I just have read about the problems with it and I know, like everything else. you...

right, no switches on the NT1A's. But the Pulsars have them. Which switch are you referring to? You seem to use those A 3035's a lot. What do you like about them? I see that they've been discontinued. Are the 3035's now called 2035's?
