Cheap Matched SDC Condensers for Acoustic Guitar?

Pair of Pulsar 11 mics. They are medium diaphram mics, and generally very under rated. They're pretty amazing on acoustic instruments and can be gotten for $249. They are about as flat and natural as I've heard.

Going cheap, a big no no!

[QUOTE Jean-Pierre "If you have something to say say it to my face otherwise shut your trap. That's the spirit, now drop out of what promises to be an escalating "relationship" struggle, and the "name calling", which is very distasteful and inappropriate, not to mention unproductive, and try...

    Portable Recording Gear

I look online, Ebay, Amazon, everywhere for the lowest price. Then I call ZZounds which like most of the big companies, will beat any price. I get the stuff the next day since they are close by in North Jersey.

Practicallity will always win over elitist points of view, no matter what the endeavor. Practice is organic, and Elitism is a misdirected state of mind often a subsitute for real knowledge gained through experience. ;) Pardon me for being philosophical, I'm sitting at work today bored out of my...

Microtrack 11 is cheap and would do an OK job for interviews I think. You can get them now for $149 I believe. If you want to go more upscale the Marantz PMD 661 for about $499 would be fine. I know you are not supposed to care but I like the way the Marantz looks and the screen is easy to...

SP c4 omni pair vs. Audio Technica 4022?

I ran some recordings through Audacity--used a low pass filter and it just about removed the damper noise. It did affect the overall track but not adversely really. Sort of mellowed things out. Also tried compression and EQ and that enhanced things a bit. So I guess if I can do that stuff with...

    Rode NT1A matched pair pristine.

Rode NT1A matched pair new (used for 3 hours in my house) $300 Rode NT1A factory matched pair. Used in my livingroom for about three hours--if that. Comes with case, shockmounts, and factory matched certificate, etc. Pristine like new condition. They are great mics but not appropriate for my...

what's all the fuss about noise floor?? any feedback?

Oh I see. I'm recording 6-8ft from piano so that would still be considered proximity. I thought proximity was more like close micing. Thanks, that is helpful. With this new Tascam recorder, I really don't have to turn the gain up much to peak at -6 to -3db. Just a little more than half way...

what's all the fuss about noise floor?? any feedback?

crrection. The spec sheet that came with the C4's said 18db noise, however these are the spec of the C4's before 2006. They were redesigned in 2006 and it was lowered to 16db. However they still are quieter than the Pulsars even though they are both 16db. The guy i spoke with at SP said that SP...

what's all the fuss about noise floor?? any feedback?

correction. after listening again, the C4's are not as quiet as the NT1A's but they are quiter than the Pulsars and they have a higher noise (18db) than the Pulsars (16 db) so I'm looking for an explanation.

what's all the fuss about noise floor?? any feedback?

I just got a pair of SP C4's. When I opened the package and read the spec sheet it said 18db noise and I thought, crap! ---it said 16db noise on the website! But, the mics are quiet. Almost, if not as quiet as the Rode NT1A'a I was using. What does all this mean? I used a pair of Pulsars which...

Yeah, I read too many reviews:eek: AND, the C'4's came this morning AND theay are the BOMB! Perfect, thanks so much for the recommendation, and I never questioned that you know your stuff, I just get sidetracked with all the variables. The Rodes are great mics, but not enough detail and too...

Bose priced themselves out of the market. They went belly up and were bought by Yamaha. I've played on them, but prefer Steinway.
