Best way to learn how to mix songs...

Because many people have become used to clicking on something and having it done for them. When was the last time you saw someone do simple arithmetic with paper and pencil? Things are becoming way too easy. Not much need to use the brain.

    This doesn't count. There's a drummer.

    Lovely drum sounds

It's a safe bet that they weren't made by anything other then someone hitting a key or whatever. Pick a drum synth of your choice. It sounds like a Casio drum machine from the 80's.

Do you like to crash ride?

Why is he "drum dumb"? Because of his opinion? I must be too. I have a set of A. Zildjains from the early 90's, with a couple of A Custom splashes. I don't bash the shit out of them, but I do hit rather hard when needed..They only get better. I've had some Paistes (early 80's 2002's) and they...

Greg's general guide to rock drums for NEWBIES!

Being a sissy limp wristed drummer who doesn't do only one style of music, I must say that Greg's advice on recording drums is a good place to start. Tuning, mic placement, phasing, etc. are all basic concepts to be applied to all drum recordingregardless of style.

Strange noise caused by phantom power on a M-audio Luna : some ideas on the matter?

I have never heard a "noise" problem sound like this. This sounds like a cable hanging over a keyboard hitting a key. Do you have other inputs armed at the same time?

    mixing drums

Huh? Something eluded me. I think I get your point, but it took me a few minutes. Mix for the song and don't use things just because you have them.

Strange noise caused by phantom power on a M-audio Luna : some ideas on the matter?

If the noise changes when you touch this or that then you have a ground problem. Bad connection somewhere. But this doesn't sound like a bad ground. It sounds like feedback. Do you have the mic close to your monitors?

    How to proceed.

What's the broadband deal against foam? It has it's uses and applications. It isn't a cure-all, but it can solve some issues, even when you can afford to do some treatment. I've heard some pretty damned good recordings done it rooms treated with nothing but foam.

It seems someone is an iPad freak

A baboon is not a monkey. Monkies and baboons are apes. Along with gibbons, chimpanzees, gorillas, lemurs, etc.. Davy, Mike,Peter and Mickey don't count. And I'm not painting my ass red for anyone. Ever.
