I found a picture of McCartney recording drums for Band On The Run. He's playing keystone badge Ludwigs. Maybe a Supra that hasn't been tuned in years with a couple of maxi pads duct taped to it. Could be anything. Muffle a drum to death and they all sound the same.
It will get you started. I got a similar Presonus package for a friend, and she is delighted with it. A big step up from the USB mic and Audacity she was using. Cubase LE6 is a good place to start in the DAW world.
Why are you set on FL? You can pick up a Presonus Audiobox 1818VSL with a starter version of Studio One for $425. Or get a 2 channel for a couple of hundred then get a couple of mics.
This is a new band? Poison, Stryper, and Skid Row would be proud. Might be that you wind up doing a few parts by yourself. High voice with no soul? Soul comes from the heart, not the notes (although being in key trumps all).;)
