Sampling is in the ear of the listener. Is it good enough? I thought that the 44/16 rate was the standard used on a typical CD so any better sampling rate was wasted when you turn the recording into a CD - maybe I am wrong in this.

    Foxtex Help

I think you can use any CD burner BUT it needs its own power supply as the MR USB port is not powered. You connect via the USB HOST port (see p124 of the User Manual). I assume you are aware of the process to convert Tracks 7/8 to a Stereo .WAV file in the 2Mix folder for each Song. I download...

    Bouncing Tracks 1 – 8 to new song - MR - 8HD

So pleased that is sorted, especially as you seem to be doing everything right. It is very frustrating when things don't happen as you expect them.

    Bouncing Tracks 1 – 8 to new song - MR - 8HD

It looks as if you are doing everything correctly. My only thoughts. Is the disk nearly full? Do you have the latest software loaded?

Good luck with it. One trick that helped me understand where Fostex was coming from was to look at the thing as an eight track tape recorder. And just one more point. With the hard disk machines it is very easy to overload the disk. The solution is to re-format the disk after every major...

There are two options for you to download your recording:- (1) First record your mono music tracks. This constitutes a Song. Then you can combine these tracks to form a stereo "master" (using the Pan controls to give Left, Mid or Right for each recorded track) and record this on to 7/8...

Basically Yes. It permits the extraction of the track files and sets up a series of files that can be accessed by a PC editor. The MR looks to a PC like an external disk but without all the control you would expect from, say, a backup drive. This is why you can directly download a stereo .wav...

WavManager has been loaded onto Windows 7 and has worked OK. The MR series records a set of mono files. These need to be converted to a stereo file before they can be burnt to a CD or loaded on to a player. This process is carried out by mixing (bouncing) all your recorded tracks to a stereo...

The MR8 is designed to download to a PC. The recommended method is to set up the USB connection and to download the tracks using WavManager - otherwise how can you edit your tracks using a PC based editor? As an MR16 owner, I admit I do not know what would be the effect of reading the Compact...

You may need to download (free) Wavmanager from the Fostex International site or from fostexsupport.com. This will deal with the Fostex recording at track level. For a stereo .wav file, direct downloading will do.

    Locked Thread

Please could the administrator tell me why the thread by Micha on the D2424Lv was locked? To me it seems a reasonable question.

    Hard Disk Space

You can't just delete the "hidden files", you will have to reformat to release space on your disk. You can download Songs and then reload after reformatting. The MR16 DOS is very simplistic and the system is designed for you to record a session, download that completed session or burn to CD and...

    MR8HD update for Windows 7?

Look for the latest copy of WavManager in Fostex Support - Index or on the Fostex International sites

    fostex g16s setup

You have not given people much time to reply. I have just been looking at the User Manual for the G24S/G16S but, as you say, it is not a lot of help. Suggest you ask the question in Fostex Support - Index This forum is more Fostex orientated. I would guess that the G16 is an older machine but...

Import PC files to the MR16

Yes WavManager will export to the MR16 BUT you must get the conditions and the Track naming right. Download all the relevant manuals to get the info correct.

    Copying/pasting the part(s)-1 & part(s)-2 - MR-8HD & possibly MR-16HD

So pleased you sorted it in the end. Nobody said that owning a Fostex was easy!! I guess that, once you understand the thinking behind the design, life becomes easier. Until you think like the designers, life is just not worth living. And that owners manual is just a waste of space.

    Copying/pasting the part(s)-1 & part(s)-2 - MR-8HD & possibly MR-16HD

The Locate A and B just set flags to control the copy and paste. Once you have set the flags for the copy and copied the bit you want to paste, the flags can be reset for the paste operation anywhere you want.

    Copying/pasting the part(s)-1 & part(s)-2 - MR-8HD & possibly MR-16HD

I think the second option will work for you. The MR16 has a virtual clipboard which can copy a section from a track (or track pair) and then paste it to another track/s. The examples shown assume a time shift but you can do any copying operation using the clipboard.( see P131 in the MR16 manual)...
