One way to learn about a machine is to download the user manual. It won't tell you how good it is but it will tell you what makes it tick. I do't think there are any TOSlink connectors on it.

Download WavManager v2.12 from the fostexusa website (PLUS THE INSTRUCTIONS) and you can interface with the MR8 HD easily. You can create a folder and load the .WAV files then you can use Audacity to edit.
