Anywhere I can get a clear guide to compression for drums... i know there isnt something set in stone, considering that each drum is different... but it would be nice to have a guideline to go off of.

good sounding beats with ease? its never easy to make good sounding beats. no matter what software you use: cubase, FL, etc... it just takes time. you can make shit sound good on any program if youre good enough at it.

i too am a college student... i got a small apartment as well and ive been planning on getting some 8" studio monitors pretty soon.. seen some on craigslist for pretty cheap.
