so my friend from guitar center hooked me up with a pair of DBX RTA i think omnidirectional mics. they are SICK i had never heard of dbx making mics before and i had my doubts but i tried them as overheads and it was magnificent.i really just have to say it is a splendid mic, and i was wondering...
i just bought a motu 896 hd
let me say first off its sick and it has an audible difference in quality from the firepod even though i jsut bought it mainly for its expansionn feature
anyways, i want to start refcording in 192khz, i know it has those capabiliuties but i cant get the headphones set...
im unclear about using different preamps with interfaces
i understand that some preamps have digital outs such as ADAT aes and spdif but
lets say you want an improvement in sound so you buy a better preamp, can you plug the output of the preamp into the line in on an interface and get better...
i would think if you had the chip that makes it able to run a mac os and windows and get another monitor then yeah :D
otherwise, maybe im ignorant, but im going to say no. like im not 100 percent sure about this but i think things swould have to be daisy chained to cooperate. i dont know if...
my advice is to go on ebay and get a new matched pair of oktava mk-012's for like 350
then get an akg d112
which brings you to 550
then save up 40 more dollars and get a sm57 for 90 dollars
and you ahve a sick setup
no i love my firepod
i just want to try something new
with different features
IMO though the firepod is sick
my experience has been wonderfull and i never had a problem with it and ive had it for a year
i just kind of want to "p[lay the field" if you will
well im gunna say
that
i will need to record probably 6 mics at a time at the most
and word clock is not nessecary
lightpipe would be fantastic especially if the interface only has like 4 pre's
so i could expand
but again what i really want is good converters to
how are the motu 896hds?
i currently have a presonus firepod and will be selling it
im looking for a new computer interface
either firewire or pci
that has a good amount of iunputs but also great converters
basically anything a step up from the firepod quality wise
my budget is around 1600 dollars
any recommendations?
im familiar with the fact it comes with a pci card
but i dont understand how im supposed to monitor my mixes or use headphones
because
there are no main outs on the thing
or a headphone out
can anyone help me on figuring this system out
tell me what you think about this song
as a whole
im aware that the vocals are so-so
and it slows down a tad at 0:50 and the keyboard is sloppy
but i would love input :D
i just recently found it on ym computer frlom like april

alright this is gunna sound weird but it makes sense at least to me
people have said ive made good mixes too, but it always seems like everyones better at it. i think it IS that we are overcritical of ourselves about everything in life, it has to do with not being satisfied no matter what we...
i realize 150 is not alot of money to mix an album
so
the winner said he didnt want to do it
a little while later
i think i will do another one of these
more organized and what not
but next time it will be one song whoever wins sends me the winning mix and receives 50 dollars does that sound...
alrighfirst of all
let me thank all of you who posted mixes on this site and emailed them to me as well
the winner of this contest is a man named marc mason
in case any would like to hear this mix considering it was one emailed to me
i will post it later this afternoon
