    I Just... Can't Help Myself!

I have the same problem, and im not even doing electronic music but all kinds of different genres from pop to metal to orchestral. It's pretty much always the same. I may for example start tweaking some distorted rhythm guitar to perfection (and with vst's it isnt easy!) before I have anything...

How to apply effect on audio track permanently in cubase?

Uhm, no its not quite. Freezing makes a new audio file, it doesnt do changes to the original file. You can always unfreeze and then it deletes the freeze file and uses again the original. I think you just want to export that track to audio. If I remember right, the freezefiles have gaps...

    Advice for buying a mic

Hah, I know you guys have enough knowledge about this for what I need so I dont really want to register to the billionth forum just for that, though I guess one might even exist.

    Advice for buying a mic

Thanks for the replies! There really are a lot of option. I found out that those "phantom powers" that ive heard talking about here are not actually as expensive as they sound like. Seems like you can get one with ~50e. So I am now also concidering T.Bone SC400 along with the sm58.

    Advice for buying a mic

Hey there! I would like to try to sing a few songs of mine, mostly just for my own fun. But right now the only "mic" i have is a headset meant for internet calls.. So I am pretty sure I should invest some money to a new mic. :D However, I dont want to invest much, as my voice...

    Eq?

With EQ you can boost or cut some frequensies of the audio material that you are using it to. I guess most sequencers have own EQ:s nowadays and you can get hundreds of EQ plugins from internet for free (dont know about their quality). http://www.bluebearsound.com/articles/mixing101.htm...

How Do I Play My MIDI Keyboard Into My Song?

Just making sure: after 'record arming' the midi-track you hit 'record' before starting to play? I also havent used fl studio but i assume they are all quite same like.

What FX would you use to mix this lead vocal??

Tip: try moving further away from the computer if you can while singing (or speaking or whatever it is called in rap music..). The computers fan may make a lot of noise that will get captured if you are near (at least with some mics). Also close the windows, especialy if there is a road nearby...

On Which Ear Should I Hang My Hat?

Ok. :) I don't really own CD's that much at all so youtube is about the only way to check a song somebody is talking about. But thanks for a reminder that those may be very different than the original ones.

How do these CHORUSES sound so thick and full!? I know you know! haha

I didnt mean anybody is hiding anything. I meant no one can tell based on listening that "oh yeah in that song they used the compressor X with these settings and then these reverbs with these settings and....."

What FX would you use to mix this lead vocal??

Seems like noise reduction softwares over do it. Ive made just a few vocals and those were with a pathetic headset mic, so I needed to use some noise reduction. I used the one in Audacity (didnt have anything else) and even with the lowest settings it made weird ufo-noises to the vocals (the...

    I need some career advice

Im also just turning to 20 and interested in mixing, but I absolutely wouldnt quit my studies (second year of physics in university going on) for that. Instead, I was thinking I might for example do some voluntary work next summer in some nearby studio. Im sure there must be some tasks that are...

What FX would you use to mix this lead vocal??

I don't listen to rap music at all, but to me it sounds like it would have already been destroyed with some strange effects. Maybe a bad noise remover? PS: And I dont think you can choose the FX without knowing the song!

On Which Ear Should I Hang My Hat?

I listened to a couple of versions in youtube and they were not completely mono. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mZpUcp-wgKM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-1mokhAExmM My system isnt panned exactly at center, but I think that hihat is about on center in the first one (or very slightly left)...

    Hardcore Music Production Tips?

Propably it would be better not to use any spectrum analyzers for now. For noobs like me it often takes you to the wrong direction. Im myself trying to get myself out from using it that much. It sounds so easy, that you could just look the graph and use EQ to make it look the same as in...

On Which Ear Should I Hang My Hat?

Good posts glen. You got me thinking about how wide the drums are spread in the music I listen, and even though its usually not mono it is much more narrow than I tought. So I've been panning drums of my own mixes propably far too wide, as they always have a billion other things going on at the...

    Drummer's perspective, or audiences?

I guess I usually mix them. Hihat on the left and ride on the right, but floor tom on the left. I dont know if thats a physically possible arrangement but thats how I would set my drums if I were a drummer. :D

On Which Ear Should I Hang My Hat?

But should it be constant during the album? Does listener get distracted if hihat changes position between the songs? And the same question propably goes for other instruments, say for piano or solo violin for example, especialy if they are panned quite hard.
