    New Automated Microphone

Hi Matt, if you look around on youtube, there are some videos about automated mic positioning. It could be nice for a one man studio to move mics in front of a cabinet, for example, while sitting in the control room and listening to the monitors. So, you basically would have to be able to move...

l Slipperman's recording guitar from hell thread thingfish does contain valuable information, besides all the hilarity. :guitar:

How to get "up close" sound recording vocal?

That's 'broadband enough" in my terms. :D It suffices to remove the "smallish room" stench from my tracks, and that makes it possible to track fairly decent vocals with a reasonably directional mic at my place. Never claimed that it was great for distant micing of bass cabinets with an omni...

Make You Feel My Love by Adele

Hey Marwhite, cool video! You create great sounding tones, I'd like it even more, if you would pronounce a little more, to get the message across, and if you phrased a little more natural. Don't make breaks in between words that belong together. The lyrics are everything! Singing is a recital...

How to get "up close" sound recording vocal?

I should have mentioned more explicitly that I use big winter bedspreads, and have my "booth" (lack for a better term) kinda in the middle of my (smallish) room, so you get much more broadband absorption than you would expect. Using big chunks of fibreglass will definitely be more helpful when...

    Audiojungle Reject - Critique Request

The solo sax is not very realistic. If you get someone competent to play it for you and make a good recording of the performance, you might stand a chance next time you try.

How to get "up close" sound recording vocal?

Have you tried to forego the preamp and plug the mic directly to the interface? The TLM 102 should be an active condenser mic, so you don't necessarily gain anything with a not so thrilling pre between the mic and the intefaces pres. Anyways, this is excellent advice for recording vocals in a...

    Advice for super-cheap recording setup

Hey Joe, (pun not intended) what is 'good enough' for you? And what does 'decent' meant to you? If you want to impress chicks that believe to be singers, just get the pink mic from ebay. If you want to make good recordings, you might want to buy gear that has a reputation to be tested and true...

    Guitar recording: FX or not?

I like to record the definitive sound when I play. Effects make me play differently, and this only translates when I record what I hear while playing. That said, I will add delays and reverbs later on, too, but just for subtle stuff. Upfront FX always gets printed, no matter what effect I use.

How do you make your acoustic guitar "shine"?

If you reduce midrange and below, you get ... more high end. ;-) Yes. Baritones often are surprisingly bright and aggressive, which is counterintuitive at first. It comes with the longer neck and the resulting higher string tension. Different beast alltogether.

    Clean, uncoloured preamp question ?

I am lusting for a Daking Mic Pre for quite some now. I did not use them myself yet (big disclaimer), but I got the recommendation from people I really trust, and I have read advice from William Wittman or Ola Sonmark who really like this pre, so I guess it is up to par with the great stuff...

How do you make your acoustic guitar "shine"?

Read more, write less hearsay! The guitar paw1 uses is a dreadnought, which is not a guitar I would necessarily choose for trebly, jangly stuff. I would try smaller bodied guitars, like a parlour. There are a lot of petite cheap-ish steel strings out there, that may lack a certain body for some...

How to get an awesome sounding recording

Yes! And Vinnie Colaiuta's drumming is so tasty and great that I really do listen to the record sometimes. These wanky 70's jam tunes are pretty much unbearable otherwise. And I'm a guitar player. Go figure.

Professional Recording Studio; How would you set it up?

Just because a mindset or opinion is mainstream it does not mean it is entirely wrong. I mean, I totally get your vision. I really do. Everyone in here does. But as long you don't get the idea of internships and as long as you don't think of your client base instead of your facilities I really...

Professional Recording Studio; How would you set it up?

Wow. Dunno, but this whole thread creeps me out. You don't have enough dough to spend the time to learn the craft thorougly, but you obviously want to spend serious money on a shop? Do you have paying clients lined up to book studio time, right now? Do you have a reliable stream of...

    How does dry vocal sound?

You should probably roll some lows out of the reverb. You might either have a control for the low factor (or sonmething alike) in your reverb plugin, or you can use the verb in a send and use an eq plugin after the reverb in the send channel. All the best,
