Are you sure you don't have any clipping into the mic preamp or anything like that? If you are positive of that, I'd say maybe here is a problem with the diaphram, but I'm not much of an expert on diaphrams... for mics.

Actually see we built a 8x8x8 foot sound booth in the house, its lined with 1/2 inch MDF wood with a sound barrier vinyl in between all of it, and then blankets all on the inside. Just so the neighbors don't complain.

Depends on your definition of excellent. You'd be able to get the quality that i got yeah as long as you learn EQing (which i'm still learning my self, i've been told i get a lot of low end distortion in my mixes)

The clicks and pops have been coming directly onto the recording... But that seems to have stopped since i installed a new sound card. We'll see i guess.

Yeah, however now i have an allen and heath mixer that i'll be running the toms and over heads through before they go into the sound cards, and the kick and snare will stay through the preamp And with my new recording techniques for guitar and bass, my next recording should be pretty good :)
