Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

Very good post. It's all up to the choice someone makes. You have to compromise between a flat response, a more natural phase representation, etc...I choose to favor the response and accuracy over the phase, but others might disagree, thus the importance of multi system checkups. Also, since...

If you own Behringer gear ...

Of all the mixes I've heard from members of the board (or at least, the ones that I remember about...), Ford's mixes are the best IMHO. Still, I probably don't remember you mixes quite well. I should hear you again so I could give an honest opinion. Undoubtely, Ford's mixes that I heard...

If you own Behringer gear ...

Behringer gear is worth what it is: 1) Cheap and poorly constructed 2) Asian made 3) Reverse engineered designs from the US masters of the art. It's all about "What quality levels am I used to ? How much am I willing to spend and How long do I want to keep this gear ?"

Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

I answered to that to lengths in another post...but simply put, I check my mixes everywhere and on a nice mid-field system that gives me the low down on the phase relationships issues (but there are always none). As I said before, if you track and mix properly, there are no phase issues to be had...

Sorry, but giving me bad rep is pretty much the only thing you can do to me... ..and that doesn't hurt a bit...

Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

Weasel? Well, when you desperatly try to rub someone's ego and that this particular someone is mature enough so that he doesn't mind getting his ego rubbed, you get stuck in a hole...like you are trying to get myself push out mixes...hahaha...you act like a kid dude...seriously, I've had...

Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

First, I'm not one to follow the pack and say like every other dude. I make my own opinion and stick to it. You don't change mentalities by sticking to the pack. Second, it's electrical engineering, not sound engineering (which isn't considered engineering here in Canada anyways...). I'm a...

If you own Behringer gear ...

Well, in my opinion and taste of guitar tone, you get half the tone with the VAMP which sounds a lot more plasticky to me. I guess it all depends on the music style you play.

    M-Audio BX8 Vs.M-Audio BX8a

What I really meant (sorry if I wasn't clear) was that Mackie and others slay the M-Audio and crush them to pieces easily, but if you are happy with the BX8, all the best for you. Someday maybe you will upgrade and look back saying to yourself "damn those MAudio were good for the price, but not...

Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

Well, as we learn in engineering school, you have to use as much input as you can, under all circumstances. Use your ears, eyes, nose, whatever...but don't rely on only ONE source or you will end up compensating the wrong way. This HAR-BAL stuff is very interesting as it exposes where your mix...

    Behringer HPM1000 Headphones

A MoreMe is a cheapo and butt ugly headphone that doesn't sound much better than the Behringers but is more sturdy and more reliable.

Sure, http://www.bluebearsound.com/articles/mixing101.htm This is a great link written by one of the most respected mixing engineers on this board.

    M-Audio BX8 Vs.M-Audio BX8a

FWIW, I think the BX8 original is better than the BX8a and what I've read on the boards here tend to agree with that. Still, many people the BX8 wether it's got an "a" or not. In my opinion, they asian company that made the BX8 might have charged too much and they switched to another asian...

Disinformation ? It's not my fault if headphones are flatter than monitors $ for $....you have to accept things like they are.

Has anyone heard the M-Audio BX8s?

Yes, some of them are far from flat, that's because of the diffuse-field equalization used on the best models. The proximity effect directly opposes the diffuse-field equalization that is showing in these graphs and form a flat frequency response. Also, I highly doubt you can get this flat of a...

I trust the engineers that made the headphones I use.

How do you measure ? With instruments, artifical ears and test benches. How do you think the engineers tweak the diffuse-field curve? They test and try out what it takes so that the resulting measured curve from the artificial ear is as flat as possible.
