YorkVille YSM2P Active Monitors!! What do you Think??

I don't have an unlimited amount of cash flow. I just like to save up longer and get better gear. This is were the "quality philosophy" comes along. People needs to boycott cheap chineese gear, korean cars and all this asian stuff and get better quality goods. Otherwise, we are basically feeding...

YorkVille YSM2P Active Monitors!! What do you Think??

Well this is the problem. I'd rather have $1500 monitors and $500 gear than the other way around. What's the purpose of not hearing your nice pres and nice effects in a flat and accurate way ?

    i need help with this!

Yeah, more linear and 4/4 oriented. It would embellish your lead playing quite a lot, instead of fighting it. You could keep the current bass scheme at the beginning or when there is no lead.

That's right to the point and it says it all.

    Help!

    1) Tune your guitars better 2) Pan them full left and full right and another one in the middle. 3) Too much cymbals and overheads going on. 4) Pan the overheads wider. 5) Bass sounds plasticky..needs EQ and compression. 6) Guitars are too loud, drum needs to be brought up quite a bite.

Ok.. Really scared to ask this question..

Limiting, compression and EQ. I mostly only use heavy limiting and careful EQ to remove the mud and make the mix sound just like pro records. i.e. boosting the high mids and removing lots of low mids. It takes a lot of practice and a lot of time to get it right.

    i need help with this!

Honestly, if there is REALLY no way of recording a new bass part, I'd try to push it backwards into the mix...but the problem is really that it's all just too syncopated from beginning to end. The bass just messes it up in my opinion. If that was the desired effect, then it's yours to decide.

As I said before, you get what you pay for. In this price range, you ain't gonna get much better for $50 or $100 more.

YorkVille YSM2P Active Monitors!! What do you Think??

Seriously, it's hard to recommend buying the YSM2P. You are better off saving for some real monitors and use some hi-fi speakers in the meantime. Anyways, under $1500 or $2k, "monitors" sound just like hi-fi speakers cause that's what they are. I'd even extend this...and say nearfields are not...

    i need help with this!

I thought it sounded quite good, you seem to have very nice mixing abilities. But I have to go with the previous dude...the bass line should be more "linear" and less "moving" since it leaves nearly no room to showcase your lead guitar skills. Also the bass has too much high mids, it should...

    PA System

The first link displayed an horrible PA setup, made in CHINA for sure. I'd go with the Peavey stuff ALL THE WAY...it's fairly priced and MADE IN THE USA. Indeed, peavey stuff is quite good IMHO.

I'm not surprised another CHINEESE monitor falls apart...

    Getting Vocals to sit back

Eq, compression and reverb.. Dude, besides the fact that the singer is awful, you have lots of EQ problems going on. Your vocals are the only intrument that "eats" up high-mids. Normally, your guitars should eat a lot of this midrange and make the vocals seem in the back. Since you don't have...

    Active or Passive Monitors

Well, this debate is really close to what I was involved in facing SouthSideGlen about preamps and power amplifiers. Glen (nearly) convinced me that specs don't tell ALL there is to how an electronic circuit will sound. Many people have reported difference in sound quality regarding the amount...

Wharfe 8.2A or KRK RP6 (active)

The specs say "Recommended amp power 20-120W" which suppose they require an amp. Same thing for sensitivity. I also didn't see any LED or illumination device on the front of the picture provided. Maybe this "music123.com" shitty site can't identify their stock properly. But given these...

    Active or Passive Monitors

I don't particularly like Bryston, but their designs are quite good and acclaimed. For another company to come up with a comparable design would require funds, experience and time. As I said, these monitors would cost more than an amp with passives since the power supply would have to be hefty...

    These are passive.

help needed:Behringer Truth Vs Samson 65a

I would go with the Samson anytime. Those Behringer are awful.

    does preamps matter?

I am very skeptical that one can hear major differences in preamps. Also, there is what I call the "I paid a big price for my $10k preamp so it must be good" factor that comes in so you "hear" differences to justify your purchase. Having that said, the mic and technique you use has a much...
