Are the Mackie HR824's now made in China?

Then you have to wonder where the QC check is made. Let's face it, I wouldn't mind buying a product assembled in China after a north american has tested and verified it. If it's QC'd in China, good luck with reliability. If it's shipped back to USA and QC'd by people like Joe Smith or Greg...

    Studio monitor adivce, please.

In my mind, you have to strive for the flattest, truest, most honest monitors you can afford and even then, save up some more since flat monitoring is essential. Of course, no monitor is 100% flat, but with measurement tools available today (ask Coolcat) you can fine tune the room and the...

Are the Mackie HR824's now made in China?

It is a known FACT that USA, JAPANEESE and EUROPEAN workmanship is of better quality than Chineese workmanship. Wherever I look, the failure rate seems to skyrocket when there is a "made in china" sticker on something.

    Yorkville YSM-1 or Yahama HS80M ?

I'd go with the Yamaha, since it has a bigger woofer and Yamaha isn't bad for an asian company. Indeed, me thinks they offer good products at a competitive price point. The Yorkville is a low grade monitor...not very pro.... If Yorkville could start building good studio monitors (and maybe team...

Are the Mackie HR824's now made in China?

And this is so sad... About the Mackies, I would get the USA ones if I could. I suspect they are much more reliable than the chineese ones.

    Studio monitor adivce, please.

Ears are used to make mixing and mastering decisions, but shouldn't be used to assess the quality and flatness of monitors. Flat is not the only consideration? Explain how and why please.

    Studio monitor adivce, please.

Well for a guy named "ssscientist" I think you rely on subjectivity a little too much  Ears are about the most subjective thing there is.

    KRK RP5 vs. Yorkville YSM2P

About the 4311, I know they're not flat, but I use them only to check what y mixes sound like on speakers. Their most brillant quality is that they are not flattering at all. About the DC150, I can't understand why you say it doesn't sound good...dude, it measures so great so it must sound...

    Studio monitor adivce, please.

This is about the worst advice there is! Don't ever buy a monitor that sounds "good", buy a monitor that is flat, accurate and true. The only way to be sure it is accurate and flat is to look at the specs and run an RTA in your room and see if what you got is flat. Buying monitors for their...

Event 20/20 BAS V2 or KRK V6 Series 2 or samson resolvs?

Because you can't reproduce high frequencies with a large driver..physics 101 dude...

Event 20/20 BAS V2 or KRK V6 Series 2 or samson resolvs?

I think you will agree that the bass response you get from headphones with a 1" driver is much closer to the one you find with 12' or 15' speaker systems than 5' speaker systems  The point is that speakers should be big in order to reproduce all the frequency range. Headphones...

Event 20/20 BAS V2 or KRK V6 Series 2 or samson resolvs?

Well it's my opinion and this board is meant to exchange opinions. If those red chicklets mean something to you, you have time to waste. Those are all about popularity and since I often am radical and/or go against the grain, I get bad rep.

Event 20/20 BAS V2 or KRK V6 Series 2 or samson resolvs?

Of course, you always get what you pay for. But it's mainly because the 20/20 has an 8 inch woofer. To me, a 12 inch woofer is the minimum, so even an 8 inch woofer is going to lack a little resolution in the bass region, but it's better than a 6 inch nonetheless.

    Headphones for mixing

The ER-4S are flatter and better. They require a good headphone amp though.

    monitor experience or suggestions?

I agree with the last bit of your intervention, which states that you have to hear down low as much as possible. But let's not forget that with subs, you have to tweak the thing with an RTA to make sure that there is a seemless transition between your monitors cutoff and the subs, which is a...

    Don't Believe The Hype

I couldn't have said it better. Whenever I hear GREAT engineering, I don't ask myself "what compressor did the guy use?"...I ask myself, HOW did he get that sound and how can I get close to it with MY stuff.

    Krk Rp6 Vs Krk Rp8

I would get the KRK RP8 over the Wharfeshits any day. Still asian crap, of course, but "better" crap :)

    monitor amps?

Hey a good update ! ssscientist gave me bad rep and left me this message: "Most (if not ALL) active monitors include Genelec, Adam, Mackie and many many others. Think before you post. ssscientist" I think before I post dude! Now my point is that if those companies (which are SPEAKER companies)...
