    Crate blue voodoo

I don't want to discourage your love for the Crate, but the "lights" are indeed a couple of orange LEDs, not the tube's elements lighting up...!

never buy another speaker cable in your life...

This trick has been known for years.... But as the dude said, the cost for a nice set of connectors and some 12 gauge wiring (you should never settle for a smaller gauge than 14, but 12 tightens bass) can exceed or match the price of a pre-made cable easily. Using 16 gauge zipcord is...

Buzz Feiten method - Real Deal or Snake Oil?

The Buzz Feiten method works dude. It just doesn't make wonders, but it helps enormously on the frets 5 and under. If it was snake oil, then why do TOP manufacturers would fit all their guitars with it? I'm talking about Anderson, Suhr, etc....GREAT guitars!

Ever wonder how MONSTER CABLE stays in business?

The truth is that expensive cables do nothing. As much as I can tolerate people saying they can actually hear a difference between a $1k preamp and a $5k preamp and with different amps and stuff which have similar specs... I CAN'T tolerate having someone tell me that cables make a difference...

    Kudos to Behringer??? Yup....

Yeah, but NOT having to use customer service is much better!

    Still stand by the Yorkvilles?

These are the YSM2P, the small cheap ones that are toys. The Yorkvilles that get most of the praise are the YSM1P, which are still a bit crappy (construction wise...noise, rattling and seperating drivers is common) but they are heaps better than the small toyish YSM2P.

    Famous well mixed-mastered albums?

The best sounding album I've ever heard is, without a doubt, Bon Jovi's "Keep The Faith". Randall Staub is a sucker for mixing so good! I envy him so much! And George Marino has a way of cleaning the job with his honorable mastering skills. This album is dated 1992, which implies that the...

    Yamaha HS50M vs KRK RP5

I didn't say "use your ears to decide if you like the sound", which is totally subjective..use the RTA for this! I said use your ears to see if the monitors can go as loud as you want without clipping. More often than not, the SPL spec given by small asian nearfields will will be unclear and...

    Yamaha HS50M vs KRK RP5

Tough call. Try them and see if the ouput level is enough for you. I wouldn't mix with 5'' monitors because of the low bass extension and also because of the volume levels which has to be deafening (sometimes, when I feel like it) for me to enjoy mixing.

    Rate This Mastering!!

And why is that? He asked for an opinion so I gave him one. Actually, I never said the job was bad, it's just that as a listener, the highs irritated me.

    Rate This Mastering!!

Too much high end to my liking. The high end is just sizzzling too much and it lacks a little body in the mids.

Are the Mackie HR824's now made in China?

Quit those bad news guys... :( The more you say those kind of things, the more I think I'm gonna move on to hand-made small company boutique stuff as often as I can and let go the big guys. You guys are basically destroying my American dream :(

Are the Mackie HR824's now made in China?

This is why I'd encourage the quality check to be made in North America.

    Zildjian A or Z custom's

A or A customs all the way. These cymbals just rip on tape. My drummer uses only Zildjan A Custom crashes, with a Paiste ride and UFIP Hi-hats.

hearing your mixes through a PA

Actually, some PA speakers sound good and most of the time, it's because the engineer behind the board is good. I once did a show where EVERYTHING was Behringer, but the soundguy was awesome and made it sound really good.

Are the Mackie HR824's now made in China?

I'm with you 100% Glen. Being admitted to the MIT would mean more to me than winning a couple of millon dollars at the lottery. The problem is that....I could only afford MIT if I won the lottery :D Here in Quebec, education is DIRT cheap compared to the USA.

    Studio monitor adivce, please.

Ask this question to all NS-10 users and we'll see... :D The NS-10 is far from flat and far from non-fatiguing, so it's about the worst monitoring device ever! People who master (are capable of doing good things with...) those monitors are geniuses.

Are the Mackie HR824's now made in China?

This is exactly why I boycott Mackie since they now outsource to China (even if it's just assembly...). Greg Mackie is the CEO you talk about that is too cheap and not proud enough to tolerate making less money, but better quality goods.

Are the Mackie HR824's now made in China?

I wholeheartedly agree with that. But what will happen to us then? WE will be the ones starving :( ...and that's exactly what the Asians want! Hell, I recall a couple of years ago, you could say "hey they have the arms, but here in North America, we have the brains". Nowadays, India, Japan...

    Studio monitor adivce, please.

Who care if it tires your ears? The point is not for monitors to be "soft" on the ears, rather to be accurate and hard on them.
